Charlie's a head coach in college, don't think he's going anywhere.  Though getting him in McDaniel's ear can only be a good thing, apparently he spent most of his time with Josh and Brady.

Some people make good Generals, some should have stayed at Major. Both Romeo and Charlie are exceptional Coordinators who seem to have had a hard time making that next step to Head Coach. Doesn't mean they don't have their own genius. Pats have not won a Super Bowl since they left. Maybe it was combined genius?

True, they haven't won it all since those two left, but they've been to the big game twice and have the best winning percentage in football I believe since 2004, so I don't think the loss of those coordinators has been as significant as some seem to think.  If the team's overall performance had declined, then yes, but  really despite the lack of Super Bowl wins, it's hard to argue the Pats have gotten worse.

Charlie Weis and Romeo Crennell were huge plusses in big games. I remember a Sports Illustrated article after the Pats won the 3rd Super Bowl against Philly, Brady was talking about the halftime adjustments Weis made. Weis called for two WR screens out of a 4 receiver set that they had never run from that formation before. Brady said that those two plays are what threw Phillys defense off for the rest of the game and relieved the pressure from the offense. O'Brien was good, McDaniels is good, but Weis was the best. And he never had Welker and Moss (no disrespect to Troy Brown and Deion Branch et al). And we know how great the D was in those playoff years, Romeo was a big part of that.

The guy who hired Weis, Crennel and Tom Brady is a genius, really good managers are not afraid of hiring people better than them.  Employee retention is a big problem in every business...

It is hard to say what Charlie's next move is. He has not done well at Kansas despite bringing in 2 QB's (Dayne Christ from ND and Jake Heaps from BYU) to lead the offense. I don't think Kansas will give him another year so I think Charlie is putting himself out there for his next move which is likely back to the coordinator position.

Charlie did a great job developing players earlier in his career, when he was tight end's coach all of the sudden this big guy developed (Ben Coates), he was running back coach Martin's rookie year and receiver's coach during Glenn's rookie season. I think his hard driving style work well with a lot players. I remember Brady saying practice became much quieter after Weiss left - Charlie would scream and swear throughout the whole thing.

Fair enough - six quality coaches for sure. Do they all go back to Parcells? BTW Pepper is in Buffalo, DL coach.
