I see what you're saying, but it gives me the opposite of the warm fuzzies going into the AFC championship game purely from a team distraction perspective. Then again, you might get a guy with a chip on his shoulder ready to make the Vikings look like fools for cutting him.

No matter who (if anyone) they bring in the player won't be speaking to the media until after the game at best. Also I feel that there are too many story lines that will be beated to death for the Chris Kluwe back story to be a distraction.

Maybe we'll just score on every possession and forget the kicking game?

One of the winningest HS football teams hasn't punted in something like 5 years. They don't even have a punter and the coach credits BB for the idea.

Look at the difference in Tebow when he was in NE rather than NY.

I think the Pats and Belichik could make the media a non-story. Everytime someone asks BB about Kluwe's anti-gay agenda, BB says, I only discuss things that affect the game and that is not one of them.... or he simply stares down the questionaire and goes on to the next person. Either way... non-story.

He has a high average and good skill at kicking inside the 20. Of everyone out there, it could be the best option.

I only care if we have to punt, I don't want a long run back or a short kick. Can't give Manning a short field, make him earn every yard.

We should know by tomorrow, at the latest.

If Ryan Allen is done and he can help the team, I support BB's decision.

What was interesting was that on the free kick after the safety he punted the ball almost 65 yards in the air.

We should trade Allen for the highest pick we can get and give Ghost punting duties as well, he looked good to me last game.  We could save some coin that way...

Is he a lefty? BB needs a lefty.

We need a punter that can hold for field goals also. I'm surprised Ryan Mallet wasn't the backup holder. It's too bad Zoltan Mesko was signed by the Bengals because he would be perfect.

Did I miss the link that says Allen has been IRd after his MRI yesterday?

He did went to the MRI but it depends on the severity of the injury.  I have not heard that Allen has been IR yet. I guess its good news.

Punting on a regular basis often screws up a kicker's field-goal-kicking mechanics.  Perhaps it is why teams employ both a punting specialist and a field-goal kicker in spite of the cost-saving benefits of having one player serving a dual role.

    I was only kidding... mostly.

There is no way they enter the game with only one kicker.  If Gosty goes down, then it's who?  Brady?
