Interesting, Rusty.  Say what you will about who the opponents were but NE has given up a total of 30 points in two playoff games.  From what I can see the D is a better unit than what we saw for most of the regular season.

It's easier to score from 2 yards then 28. Not sure your aware of that. It's all irrelevant now but comparing a 2 yard TD to a FG  starting at the 28 is apples to oranges.

You must have missed the Flacco passing yards part.

from what i have seen, the pats defense have played alot better since spikes and chung have returned.....i mean they won that game on sunday more on defense than on offense..

In Response to Comparing Houston's D to NE's D vs Ravens Offense:
Just did a quick comparison and this is replete with Houston fumbling and allowing a TD, and Woodhead fumbling and NE allowing only a FG. Hmmm. Also, Flacco had no INTs in the Houston game, while NE's D had 1. Third, Brady tossed two bad INTs, one worse than the other while Yates tossed 3, putting some heat back in his own D himself, however 1 of those was at the end,  so it's really 2 during the main playing of the game, when comparing stats by from each game: VS Houston: Rice, 21 carries, 60 yards R. Williams, 6 carries, 27 yards Boldin, 4 catches, 73 yards T. Smith, 1 catch, 9 yards L. Evans, 1 catch, 30 yards D. Pitta, 2, 29 yards E. Dickson, 1, 14 Flacco, 14/27 176 yards, 2 TDS VS NE: Rice, 21 carries, 67 yards R. Williams, 6 carries, 22 yards Boldin, 6 catches, 101 yards  (most of this on the last drive) T. Smith, 3 catches, 82 yards, 1 TD L. Evans 3 cacthes, 39 yards D. Pitta, 5 catches, 41 yards E. Dickson, 2 catches, 23 yards Flacco, 22/36, 306 yards Synopis, NE matched Houston almost stat line for stat line and was actually put in a tougher spot with Brady's poorly timed 2nd INT.  NE did allow more passing yards on their way to focusing on the Ray Rice heavy gameplan, but that's not surprising. The  only main difference was that the very good Jonathan Joseph shut down Torrey Smith, while he beat NE on two main plays for his stats (coverage breakdown early and the facemask TD he had). Keep in mind, the media and fans here RAVED about Houston's D all year long.

Classic Rusty.  They raved about Houston's D all year because THEY PLAYED THAT WAY ALL YEAR.

If the Pats D had played all year like it has the last two weeks, no one would have had a problem with them from day 1.

In Response to Re: Comparing Houston's D to NE's D vs Ravens Offense:
Dear Patsman 3/Irrational, Absolutely.  But, when NE's D sort of improves to show (when as healhty as a Houston D has been ALL YEAR), they can play somewhere near a top 10 level (15th in points allowed ALL YEAR), then it's time for the irrationals to step forward. The Pats D was new, with a new 4-3 base and had ascended well in the Dallas and Giants game in October, before sustaining a load of injuries. Maybe if you weren't an irrational moron acting like these aren't the facts and realities, this board would have been spared a load of incessant threads based on bickering between rational fans who are honest and irrational fans who wear Brady Underoos on their heads. The irony is, when NE's D ascended in the Dallas and Giants games, Brady throw two horrendous INTs in each game. In each game, the D outplayed the offense then, too, which is what I stated at the time. CASE CLOSED

Yes because Houston missing Mario Williams, there best defensive player, pretty much all year is nothing compared to the Pats injuries.

Keep up your insults Rusty because your actual analysis is laughable.

Yea there playing with a 3rd (and for 1 game a 4th) string QB.  Blame the defense for that.  Nice Rusty arguement there.

Thanks for the analysis.  I found it interesting, and yes Flacco produced more passing yards vs. Pats, but Pats also didn't hand him the ball at the 10 yard line...so that's not really a huge deal IMO.  The D played well enough to keep the Pats in the game when Brady was having one of his rare bad days.....they deserve a lot of credit for their play in that game.  Now let's hope BB has a plan for Eli and Tom gets back to making better decisions.

Love it when the Pats D plays great situational football. Don't really care about the yardage only the final score. Giant have good running game and an underated receiving corps (I say underated because Manning gets most of the credit).
