You lose. They NEVER should have been in any situation to lose vs the Cardinals. No how, no way, never! That's embarrassing, missed FG or not. They were outplayed at home, for God's sake, while healthy. No excuses.

Ravens game? Nice try with your excuse. Fact is the Pats BLEW a double digit 4th Qtr lead (their first of several this season, BTW). The Ravens were the better team; you even admit it. It's a shame that they fell of due to their injuries. The emotion surrounding Smith? I guess that was a HUGE secret the Pats never heard about. Scored a couple of TD's too. Poor coaching by the Pats? Lousy pre-game prep? Would have been interesting to see what would have happened in any Round II in the playofs, if they met up.

Seattle? Another 4th Qtr "come from in front" effort, to a ROOKIE QB, no less. Don't care if they play this on Mars. Early in the season, rookie QB learning the ropes.....  It was just about as embarrassing as the Cardinals debacle. Last minute deep TD toss

The Niners? They did to the Pats what the Pats did to the Texans the game before, injuries or not. Funny how you're not claiming "pure luck" in games the Pats won (memory refresher: jags, Bills, Fins, Bills, etc). Can't believe you actually feel that injuries made the Pats lucky to have won those games. But, I see your logic.                                  It wouldn't matter what Peyton Manning did you guys would have a negative comment to make about it. It is funny. I'm a huge Peyton Manning fan. Love the guy. Follow everything he does. I go to a bar {I don't drink} and sit in the corner watching his games on Direct TV while drinking Sprite. I like Brady though. I have nothing against Brady. I'm not always "knocking" Brady. When Peyton was with Indianapolis I never felt the Indianapolis fans hated Brady. I thought they were very respectful of Brady. They weren't "knocking Brady" every chance they got. But Patriots fans. Here this guy is, 4 surgeries, playing for a new team, admittedly probably not 100% physically and he ends up with a 106 Quarterback rating and his team wins it's last 11 games {which is pretty impressive in the NFL..........I don't care if you're playing the Little Sisters of the Poor} and yet what is the headline in New England, "whatever Manning did doesn't matter." It is sad...................Peyton is the Beatles. Brady the Rolling Stones. That is just the way it is and always has been. Manning is the Pro Bowl quarterback again. Brady is 2nd. Manning's jersey is the 2nd biggest seller {Brady's fifth or sixth.} There is a very good chance Manning will win MVP #5. In your heart of heart's you know this and it DRIVES YOU CRAZY!! ALWAYS HAS!! That isn't Manning's fault. It isn't Brady's fault. Sometimes that is just the way things work out. Peyton Manning is a heck of a football player...............so is Tom Brady.

All Patriot fans are bad.  All Colt fans are good.  Walton is open minded.  Manning is superior to Brady in his opinion.  Walton is on another teams forum to spread the truth.  Got it

Broncos get smoked by the ravens in second round and ravens come to Gillette for an epic rematch of last year.  Peyton a feel good story but it ends with a very tough ravens team laying in the weeds.  Pats will win a hard fought game against Texans, setting up a war in the conference finals.  Two best teams will match up again this year.

AFC West is terrible. I pretty much predicted that it would be a cakewalk for Manning And I ain't exactly Kreskin or Nostrodamus when comes to accurate predictions. 12-4 or 13-3 record. A healthy Ravens team could beat them. The Broncos probably beat Houston (when has Schaub ever one a big game....oh right last year....oh that was Feeley or Yates or something) or Indy. The NFL wants the Pats and Broncos in the AFCCG game so they can play up the Brady-Manning rivalry. Pretty happy neither Rex Grossman or some stiff like Cutler won't be in the SB.
Have you seen the AFC East the past two seasons? NOTHING to write home about. And we Pats fans hqave long beedn belittling ANY team winning the NFC West by default. The difference between the Pats and Broncos is that Denver didn't screw things up by losing to a teAm they NEVER should have.

Lol at the schedule arguement. The Broncos are a damn good team on both sides of the ball. They are an improved team from when they played the Pats. I expect a close game if they meet in the AFC Championshiop. Their pretty equal, imo.

Yes I am a Pats fan; go back to watchung games at BU and Fenway. What I am NOT is a rose colored glasses fan. Sure, they won 12 games, but didn't live up to their potential. They absolutely blew 3 games: Cards, Seahawks, and Ravens. Should have been 15-1. That's my concern: not playing up to your capabilities. Gakkiing up double digit 4th Qtr leads is not, despite whatever you may say, think, or feel ,is NOT a good thing.

Playing up to your capabilities means you actually win those games, instead of hairblling them. Playing up to your capabilities does not mean your D sending opposing QB's to Canton on the first ballot. It means getting that critical 1st down late in the ball game to keep possession and run the clock. It means not having a rookie QB, still learning the ropes, spanking the daylights out of you in Seattle, especially in the last minute when the whole world knows that the only way to lose is via a TD. Despite this, a stinkin' rookie beats you. THAT is not playing up to your capabilities. Get that Canton bust all ready. having to beat the JESTS! in OT? Most assuredly not living up to your capabilities. I doubt that even Mother Theresa would say gthat anyone played up to their capability against the Cards. That game is the reason why the road to the SB now goes thru Denver.

Losing the #1 seed to Denver would be a whole lot easy to take if they lost a tie breaker or head-to-head. Losses to the Ravens and Seahawks are easier to accept as they did make the playoffs. Even the Niners loss is OK as they too made the playoffs. But, lose to the stinkin' Cardinals??? Totally unaceptable, no matter how you slice and dice it, or how you try and excuse it away. Save it. The game NEVER should have come down to the missed FG.

The BB Era has been a blessing. You have no idea what it was like going through 2-12 and 1-15 seasons. Us old timers know this. This is much more fun. But, when things don't go right, "experts" line up for the Blame Game (Welker should have caught pass in last year's SB), right after the Excuse Game (If Gronk was healthy last SB, when the underthrown pass to him NEVER should have been thrown short). If you pink hatters can't see this, then I feel sad for you. It's a sad day when the best you have for a potential SB winning team, year in and year out, is that at last they won 12 games and the division before getting bounced out of the playoffs. Go see how that rings in Pittsburgh or Dallas.

Not buying it. No way, no how, NEVER should they ever lose to the Cardinals at home. This was a slam dunk "W" for everyone last April. It was inexcusable. You have 16 chances to win, and we pretty much tabbed up 10 of them, including this game. You don't throw these games away. They were out played, out coached, and simply looking ahead to the Ravens, which didn't trun out too good either.

FYI. I figured three losses this season: the Ravens ans Seahawks (NOT  the way they did), and either the Texans or Niners. With double digit 4th Qtr leads, I was pleasantly surprised until they gakked those hair balls. Note: like the rest of the civilized world, I had them beating the Cardinals.

They lost to the Ravens on the road, and while they still had Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Ngata, etc... and let's not forget the Ravens were playing with emotion in that game... it was following the death of Torrey Smith's brother. Another thing to not forget is that Hernandez wasn't playing.

They lost to Seattle in Washington. Given how that team has played all year, particularly at Quest Field, that's hardly surprising.

Then they lost to a tough San Francisco team while missing Gronk.

I think there's little doubt that the Patriots are more battle-tested and are the superior team. The Broncos had the weakest strength of schedule this season.

    BZZZZZZZ!!!

Lost due to injuries, win only via luck. Brilliant!
Are you a Patriots fan? You seem rather miserable considering we won 12 games this season and have the #2 seed.

In all the games the Pats lost this season, they were right there and should have won.
Like they should have beaten the Colts in 2006, and the Giants in 2007 and 2011? Maybe they should have won those games...but they didn't. This year...they need to get it done...NO EXCUSES!!

So basically what your saying is that the Pats are not going to the Superbowl because they lost to the Cardinals earlier in the season? Okay Gotcha. I will just throw a Divisional Game party and celebrate it as an early Superbowl, should the Pats win, and not bother watching the Conference game because since the Pats don't have homefield advantage and according to your logic, have no chance of reaching a Superbowl because of that, then all is truly lost. Dang, really wanted to watch the Pats until their very last game. Thanks for the warning.

As for records against winning teams....... IF the Pats are that good, I'm still waiting for an explaination on how the Pats have double digit 4th Qtr leads and blew games  vs Seattle and Baltimore. Then someone needs to explain how the all powerful and mighty Pats had to go to OT in first game vs JESTS!!!. Finally, I see there are STILL nom takers to successfully explain away the Cardinal debacle, when I said at the time, it would be THE game that would cost the Pats come the post season. Hate to do it, but I was right..... Unless you're an genius that feels that it doesn't matter where the Pats play the AFC Championship game.
AZ, regardless of how it can be explained, unless you were fully expecting wins at every turn during the season regardless of the opposition, the Pats, most likely, would not have gone undefeated.  There are games which go unexplained and a supposed "weak" opponent can rise up and play the game of their year.  In the two games the Pats "blew" leads, they were on the road against good opponents who had something to play for.  Seattle, to prove they are legit and the Ravens to support a team mate who lost a brother.  As for the Cardinals debacle, accept it for what it is, S**T happens and it did in that game.  Also, look at the 49'ers game and all the RIGHT things that had to happen in favor of the 49'ers for them to pull it out.  Losing only 1 out of 6 fumbles, 3 TDs scored with only 5 offensive plays, when the game was tied the 49'ers KO return goes for 62 yards, a fumble was picked up and returned 68 yards.   It was not like the Pats were playing a team who was not trying to win the game, too!  Seems to me you have this thought that all teams who play the Pats should simply kneel to them and lose.  Isn't this why they have coined the phrase: "On any given Sunday..." ?

Stop thinking one dimensionally. I never said that they won't get to the SB this season. All I said was that they made it harded on themselves by hving to play in Denver, if both teams make it to the AFCCG. History has proven and shown that not many good things appen there in January. Plus, toss in the Forehead. But, using your logic, as it seems to echo others, it just won't matter, as the Pats will chalk up another SB trip. Denver, Pay A Ton's bility to pick apart defenses, playoffs..... What was I thinking??

Yep the Cards were 1-0.  that is splitting hairs.

Look if you want to believe the pats are better, you have every right.  They may very well be, but I am not going to get deep in the weeds of analyzing it, because I really don't care all that much.

Dude, who cares if the Pats don't have the #1 seed. Sure we all wanted them to have it but they don't. They didn't have the #1 seed in '85, '96, '01 and '04. Not trying to fight or get into a heated debate with a fellow Pats fan but your post sound like Doom & Gloom. Let me point out that I don't believe the Pats will have a cake walk in route to SB 47. I've only had that "sure thing" feeling three times and that was the start of the '03, '04, & '07 playoffs. Maybe it's ignorance because I have never been to Denver but I really don't believe the Pats are snake bit when it comes to Mile High. Prior to BB's arrival, the Pats record against Denver has been a disaster, especially in the Elway days. Since BB's arrival, the Pats and Broncos have played 12 times and it's even at 6-6 with the Pats collecting 3 of those victories at Mile High. If the Pats meet Denver in the Conference title, I think they win with Talib and Dennard at corner. Could they lose that game, yes of course, it's not a sure thing but I like the Pats chances.
