What's the status with his injuries?

I know he is young and I would think he is going to want to get paid...however, he took a big step back last year, which may reduce his price.
Can someone remind me...was he injured (which may have led to this drop in production) or did he just take a step back this year?

he's a 3-4 OLB. NE runs a 4-3. end of story. glad to hear he's a fan of the patriots.

Article says he would take less money to play for a contender with an established QB. Sounds like a fit with the Patriots. I would for sure bring him in and take a good close look at this guy. -

As I said in another post "What shocked me was that Barwin ran a 4.47 at 268 pounds!"
And govenment I believe he possess the right size to play a 4-3 end at nearly 270 and set the edge. Or he could also help BB get back to a 3-4 for certain games or formations.
When healthy he is a double digit sack guy, and above all his price may not be too step.

he's had one double digit sack season in 2011. then mario williams left and he recorded 3.5 sacks in 16 games in 2012.
he's never been a 4-3 DE since entering the NFL. my money is on NE looking elsewhere.

Well, that actually doesn't make sense because he didn't play 3-4 at Univ of Cincy when he came out in the 2009 draft. He was a DE like Nink was at Purdue when he came out in 2005.It's not so much what he played in Houston it's the idea he can easily go back to a college level 4-3, but BB would love a guy who knows the 3-4.
Just saying. You have two MLBs who can play 3-4, Nink knows the 3-4 from the edge and the idea of Barwin in the mix as a DE/OLB only helps.
Not saying NE is looking at him or the money makes sense, but this argument about BB now running more 4-3 so he's not a fit, doesn't reallly matter.
BB loves versatility.

barwin was a TE for his freshman-junior seasons at Cincy, he has only 1 season of experience at DE. in the NFL he has 0 experience at DE. unless NE is changing back to a 3-4 connor barwin isn't an option. he just doesn't fit the scheme. -

I look at him as the Trevor Scott Replacement if he is willing to take that type of money to be on a winning team. I'm not saying your wrong that the Pats may look elsewhere, but I see a lot of value with picking him up.

at a very friendly price he could be someone to look at. -

I don't think there's any way that he would play for Trevor Scott's contract, but if we could get him for a reasonable price I think he could end up being a very good addition as a 4-3 DE.

BB loves those guys. Wasn't Solder a TE or something before switching to Tackle?I don't really care where Barwin started, he entered the draft as a DE/OLB and was mentioned many, many times on here as a target in that 2009 draft.
You seem to be strangely pigeonholing his skills and not thinking outside the box. It's all about money and what the player wants.
If any of these FAs want the big deal, they won't play here.

Solder played LT for 3 seasons at Colorado, big difference. Sorry for not jumping on board, i have my reasons. him only having 1 season of experience at DE and 0 experience at DE as a pro is one reason. the fact that NE passed on him not once, not twice, but 3 times in the 2nd round of the 2009 draft is another. -

As a situational pass rusher, Barwin could really be just what the doctor ordered. I really hope NE at least looks into signing him.

solder played 3 years of tackle in college and has continued at tackle in the nfl. barwin played one season of DE in college and has since played olb in the nfl. the patriots drafted solder in round one. the patriots passed on barwin 3 times in the 2009 draft.
if you can't understand the difference then i don't know what to tell ya. i'm not anti-barwin, i'm just saying that NE signing him is a long shot. if they do sign him then i will root for him to do well.
and i can clearly see OLB is a tough position to play considering barwin only recorded 3.5 sacks from the position last season.

Vrabel didn't record a lot of sacks from that position. I wouldn't count total sacks as impact at the OLB position in the 3-4.I understand MANY differences, thanks very much. Please don't lecture me, young whippersnapper.
i'm just making my point clear i have no intention of lecturing anyone. don't take it so personally, ya old geezer ;) -
