I've compiled the current strength of schedule stats. It includes the the team, their opponents W/L record, & the win % of the opponents. The NFC EAST came up glaringly weak, with New York Giants dead last. Notice:
DET 18-6/75%
CLE 18-7/72%
NE 15-9 /62.5%
KC 15-9/62.5%
CAR 11-7/61.1%
MIA 14-9/60.8%
TB 14-9/60.8%
TEN 15-10/60%
AZ 12-8/60%
CIN 14-10/58.3%
STL 14-10/58.3%
OAK 14-10/58.3%
SEA 13-11/54.2%
GB 10-9/52.6%
SF 12-11/52.1%
DEN 12-13/48%
ATL 9-10/47.4%
NYJ 11-13/ 45.8%
JAX 11-13/45.8%
DAL 11-13/45.8%
SD 9-11/45%
PIT 10-13/43.5%
NO 8-11/42.1%
BUF 10-14/41.7%
BAL 10-14/41.7%
CHI 7-11/38.9%
IND 8-16/33.3%
HOU 8-16/33.3%
MIN 7-17/29.2%
WAS 7-17/29.2%
PHI 5-13/27.8%
NYG 6-19/24%
In other words, I give minimal credence to the Giants 5-0 start.
thoughts?

That's unfair---Detroit hardest schedule and the Giants the easiest. Should be the reverse.
Interesting to see Pats at third toughest (those stupid ESPN talk jocks keep hinting ours as a breeze and unfair because we have toughies at home).

Out of the top ten hardest, only NE and Cincy possess winning records.
No coincidence, out of the bottom ten, all of the remaining undefeated teams exist.
We will know a lot more when teams like NY, Minny and Indy start playing real opponents. Minny has Baltimore coming up this weekend, so we'll see.

One of the things this list tells me is that, at least to this point, the top and the bottom are expanding at the expense of the middle. Z is right when he says that all this will likely even out when good teams start playing each other (except for the Colts, of course, who only have one good team on their schedule).
(out on the prairie, this is known as blowing a dogg whistle)

Doesn't surprise me at all, I've had the giants overrated from day one.
My only thought is that its taking way too long for giants homers on this board to start crying about this post.

True, but they're often crushing their non-conference opponents. I've got the conference as a whole as playing at a 9-7 level in the NFL, which is better than average.

Also not surprising to see the equally overrated colts only six positions from the bottom.

You and me both. The Giants have faced the weakest teams in the NFL. When the best team you've faced are the Dallas Cowboys you should know that you have a weak schedule.

Nice job, JB.
Did you do the crunching? If so, my respect to you.

JB,
I am not sure though that your list says much. At this early time of the year, winning teams will alwys be at the bottom of the list and losing teams at the top.
Statistically, winning teams make the record of their opponent too low, and losing team do the opposite for their opponents record. After 5 games, this list will look like this every year because 1 game (win or loss) is 20% of your record (and therefore 20% of strength of schedule). This is too high.
A better list would be to throw away the head to head win or loss.
