    In response to Cutdown Thread:

Ebert made the team.  Riess already reported he is at practice.  Anyone cut or being cut is not at practice.

Clear to see there is a serious youth movement going on with these Pats.

I wouldn't say that as there are 58 at practice not including Vollmer, Spikes, or a number of others that are sure starters

    In response to Cutdown Thread:

Several ex Patriots have also been cut..

    Tiquan Underwood
    Darius Butler
    Gary Guyton
    Antwan Molden
    Dan Gronkowski

I feel bad for Underwood.  Hopefully he gets a shot somewhere else.

This is very tough, unforgiving and punishing league. I don't mind being a fan mostly because it is a complete curiousity to me but I am grateful I am not a player because I would not want to go through the ups and downs and not have control over the length of my career along with the effects of constant violence on my life.

So cut out the FB, cut out the WR's.  Thought was the team was going to go with 3 TE's.  Are they now going to keep 4 TE's?  --Gronk, Herdz, Fells, and Silveri?

I won't be surprised if BB signs some guys cut from other squads or even pulls a trade. It is possible we'll end up with a FB or another WR before the weekend is done.

Then again, four TEs is more of possibility, especially given Hernandez's versatility.

Tomorrow should be even more interesting, as certain NFL players don't clear waivers and are claimed by the Patriots.  BB regularly gets himself a new player this time of year.  Last year the Jets gifted Danny Woodhead to the Pats, thank you.

At this rate the Pats may just go with two receivers. Lloyd and Welker.

As it stands right now this was a bold defensive statement by BB. He refuses to caught short handed defensively. I am surprised with how few WR's are left on the team and I am curious to see what develops from both in the short term and long term in this regard. I think we will see Ebert on the practice squad, a QB, a fullback and hopefully Silvestri at TE.

Kettani and Ebert should make it back but Silvestri gets poached.

    Re: Cutdown Thread

Not many surprises. Branch perhaps, but mostly because Gaffney and Stallworth were already gone and you had to figure one of them would make the final 53. Perhaps a little surprising that both Bolden and Kettani go, especially with Demps placed on IR. The number of interior DLmen is a little strange. Cannot see Fortson being on this team. Rivera necessary as Spikes' back-up. Ihedigbo a bit of a surprise - don't think a ton of people saw Dennard AND Cole on the final roster. ome people didn't see White making it over Kotavides and Tarpinian, but the guy has been a ST mainstay for a number of years and these end of the roster spots usually come down to that above all else. Certainly don't think the Hoyer and Koppen cuts come out of the blue (both back-up QBs had ROUGH pre-seasons), though one would have thought they'd have cut Koppen earlier so he had a better chance to hook on with someone else, but there's no telling what goes on behind the scenes with BB and this organization. And that's why it's difficult to do much analysis now - you know there are numerous changes coming this week and moving forward. Shinacothe's health is obviously an issue. Do they bring in another veteran QB? Does one of the receivers come back? Do they sign another fullback? A different veteran WR? Players like Bolden, Ebert, Tarpinian, Kopa, Taylor, McDonald, Silvestro, Weems etc. could wind up on the practice squad if they make it through. Also, is Waters back? Does Demps return from the IR and play? Does Vollmer's back hold up? No one plays more games with the injured lists, releasing and re-signing players (especially after the week one no more gaurantee date) than the Pats so look for lots of moves in the next few weeks.
