Hightower slid into MLB. This changes things. Hopefully spikes gets healthy....and stays that way.

white and carpenter will be good replacements and this allows us to keep one of them i guess to look on the bright side.

White maybe not so sure about Carpenter. He has done less than zero since being drafted in the 1st round.

For those unfamilar with ACL injuries:

The prognosis for a partially torn ACL is often favorable, with the recovery and rehabilitation period usually at least three months.

However, a full tear often requires surgery with at least a year to fully recover and resume athletic activies.

I hate it that this had to happen to one of the hardest workers on the team.

Good luck Dane, along with so many others, I'm rooting for you.

Dustcover, is that the large ligament I feel below my knee cap? That's what it looks like. Any news on whether it's a full or partial tear? Funny that you almost never hear of a torn PCL.

Damn shame because he was one of the people I was really looking forward to seeing this year.  He plays with such an attitude and a high motor he really is fun to watch and is a rock solid backup to rotate in.

Yeah, really disappointed for Dane.  I'm a pretty big fan of his and have a lot of respect for a guy who can work his way all the way up from an UDFA from Montana State to a legitimate NFL LB.  He's a stud and I bet his drive will get him back and better than ever by next season.  I guess this will open the door for a guy like Tarpinian.  Let's hope this is our worst injury of the season!

    Re: Dane Fletcher Tears ACL

This is a fairly bad injury considering Spikes inability to stay healthy. Tracy White is not the answer, he is a special teamer and tiny.  Carpenter is slated as an outside guy but I had him falling off the squad by the time preseason was done, he isn't the answer either.

We may sign a veteran castoff from another team after camp let's out, keep an eye out for a linebacker who may be a salary casualty. Start looking at teams that are linebacker heavy...?

Agree.  I respect White's special teams contributions, but he definitally isn't the answer at ILB.  If Spikes can get healthy and stay on the field, and that is a big if, then this injury won't be too significant.  Proabably a good idea to start looking around for a replacement, though...

I thought Carpenter was making the team. Like rusty said its a deep position thank god.   You know someone is going to get hurt glad it wasn't Brady.

Bobby Carpenter is a roster lock.  Too bad for Dane, his trajectory was headed in the right direction.  Maybe a bubble guy squeaks in now.  Niko K, Tarpinian, someone...

    Re: Dane Fletcher Tears ACL

This is too bad, but it's not something the Pats can't recover from.  There's sufficient depth at the position and Fletcher was likely to be more of a back up than a starter. I'm sort of hoping it's not too serious and he gets on the PUP list, though the chances are he's going to be on IR if it's an ACL tear.
