    Defense at fault

No secondary big plays.....where was the pass rush?...so much for the Ravens being tired. Disgusted at this game. No sense off urgency.

How can you not? What game were you watching ? How many bombs was Flacco hitting downfield? Why was Rice constantly breaking free?

Both sides of the ball are to blame.. Pats had a 13 - 7 lead at the half with that Brady brainfart to end the first half and not call a TO to at least get another shot at the end zone.  That, in itself, seemed to have started the O going in the tank.  No big plays at all to match what the Ravens were doing.  Unlike the SB last year, there WAS no lead late in a game for the D to protect.

I agree with this. A team that can fall apart when one player who's not a QB goes down shows that their are serious flaws on this team. They need to fix this defense before it's too late. Brady probably has 3 good seasons left and they are wasting them with awful defense. They can not win a super bowl like this. They have no real pass rush at all and they have a bunch of nobodies playing defensive back.

Is it because they are playing tight?

    (1) Never the same after Talib went down

    (2) WW drop was huge

    (3) next drive, down only 14-13 2nd and 2 at their 33 and they go empty backfield

       (a) pass incomplete

    (4) VW pushed around all day (0 tackles 1 assist)

Defense was awesome in 1st half and decent in 2nd half!

Offense was bad in 1st half and pathetic beyond belief in 2nd half!

I thought this was the best offense in NFL and one of the best in history?

Disagree with this. The coaches can call a time out nowadays also. It was a collective brainfart but even with the time out they only have one play left and it had to be a pass play in the end zone so there was no TD guarantee there. The Pats bungled their field position in the first half but it looked like the offense could move it at will and was in good shape for the second half. Three turnovers in the second half destroyed them because they were still moving the ball. The defense on the other hand became fairly pathetic once Talib went out.

This felt all too much like the divisional game against the Jets

Unless it's a blowout, this team just crumbles against good competition.

no way man, the offense was horrible. how many times did they get inside the 25 and come up empty handed? the defense gave them great field position in the first half but they couldnt do anything with it. 13 points is not a good offensive performance. Talibs injury hurt the defense but  their biggest flaw imo is that they rarely get pressure on the qb. Flacco was able to sit back there forever on some plays. They need better guys on the defense no doubt but the offense has stunk it up in the playoffs for quite some time, other than last years denver game.

VW picked the wrong game to put in a no-show.  And when Love got hurt they had no inside pressure at all.   No pressure on Flacco all game really.

This could have gotten ugly a lot sooner if someone had woken up Jim Caldwell and told him Talib was out.  It took Caldwell another 2 quarters to figure it out and try a first down pass.  Almost like last week the Ravens won despite Caldwell's play calling.

yup, all of those were the key plays that lost the game. welkers drop may have been the worst, it completely turned the tide in the game. He's made some plays but has dropped too many in key situations.

How is this defense wasting Brady's good seasons? I think the past couple of years its been Brady and the offense who have choked in big moments after average 35+ ppg in reg season?

Think back to last years SB. Defense got the Giants to punt on first posession. What does Brady do?  Throws a wild 1st pass to nobody and causes a safety! Gives the Giants ball back who score a td. Thats 9 points right there.

How can you forget the debacle against the Jets in 2010?  This is what todays game reminds me of.  Completely outcoached, outplayed, outhustled.  Pathetic

The offense was good against the Texans last week by the way. The offense started forcing things once the Ravens offense took control. Both sides of the ball were absolutely putrid in the second half and therefore equally contributed to the loss. Before the final INT I felt Brady had played a decent (not good) game. He was not responsible for Welker's drop which just killed the team when the Ravens defense seemed to be struggling. Brady is also not responsible for Ridley's fumble either which turned a one score game into a two score game pretty quickly.

Props to you for seeing the return of the 2011 Pats D after Talib went out in the game thread.  I'm not discounting the WW drop or Ridley fumble but if it hadn't been for Caldwell's ineptitude in taking advantage of mismatches when Talib went down this could have gotten uglier much sooner.

The defense? Brady throws 2 picks and you're blaming the defense? The defense held that Ravens team that just dropped 38 points on a good Denver defense to 7 points in the first half.  Brady let us down again. Warnings were out. Brady's addiction to the shotgun spread kiled us.
