If Welker didn't have those two key drops in the Baltimore game, plus lots and lots of drops over the years to establish a pattern, he'd get the $11m franchise tag and he'd have to stay. I think he's just a bit too old and too dropsy for $11m next year. Somebody will pay top dollar for him, and it isn't the Krafts.

Its all about the money with Welker. His drops in big games aren't the issue, the real issue the lack of a deep threat at the WR positon. Joe Flacco looked great against the Pats because he had Torrey Smith on one side and Boldin on the other. WR's that can get open!
Pats need to spend some money on WR talent, if Welker costs too much, then he needs to go. Pats have too many needs on both sides of the ball.
