He grabed him.  Left hand on the left shoulder.  Right hand on the body.  he was beat.  Never looked back for the ball.  The pass was just a fingertip away.  The ref was standing right there.

I'm sure the ref hated to call it.

To the rest of the board, is Babe right?  Was a whistle that negated a turnover 10x worse than the PI that gave the pats the game?

It didn't give the Pats the game, liar. There was plenty of time to score otherwise. This is just another example of how your dishonest mind works.

Shouldn't you be in your usual corner by now, going through two to three boxes of kleenex, crying many rivers? The Pats won and your little ponies lost!

hold on now, d players and o players have their hands on each other ALL OF THE TIME ON EVERY PLAY.  Did the defender turn the receiver or truly impede his ability to get the ball?  Did the o player have his hands on the defender, etc?  Was this a play you could easily see being a non-call?  Was a similar play not called earlier in the day?

It was clear PI because the defender never made a play on the ball, while initiating contact with the receiver and interfering with his ability to catch the ball.

The DB was beat, never turned for the ball, and was pulling Boyce.

was it ticky tack or obvious?  Was it a call that most would call BS and only fans would defend or was it an obvious call?  Lets not talk by the book, b/c by the book never happens.  A penalty could be called on every play.

I don't see how a ref could keep the flag in his pocket on that particular play.  The DB was beat and pulled at the receiver with the ball in the air.  The pass was catchable and was almost caught.   I understand your point that a penalty could be called on every play.  But the ref had to make a decision - and a decision that there was no pass interference would clearly be the wrong decision (as video shows and the rule book states).  So, one can accuse the Refs of being inconsistent, but in the case of that particular play, not "wrong".   My $.02.

Right - they had 1st and goal from the 1.  Who are you calling liar?  Clearly you like hypocrisy like the devil likes the weak.

Pats were going to win that game PI or no PI.   Browns were cooked at that point.

Talk about bringing weak stuff.  A guy that didn't see the play wants to argue about it.  The troll who says he just here to defend the Clots.  No Clots in that game.  What a little weenie.  Very sad life.

Boyce was absolutely interfered with.  And the Pats would likely have won anyway even if the ref's had failed to make the correct call on that play.  The most questionable call was the review that let stand a call that Gordon had caught the ball on the last Cleveland TD drive.  Ball not secured before hitting the ground.  That call gave Browns a TD instead of a punt.

Wasn't a big grab, but we've been on the losing end of equally questionable calls in the past.  I'm thinking of a game against the Colts where we were hammered for contact every bit as incidental. Why is it all of us here used to wonder why our DB's couldn't learn to look back at the ball?  It was because they kept being flagged for PI.  This guy made contact and wasn't playing the ball.  Light contact perhaps, but contact nonetheless.

One could think the officials were of the mind set from the non call on Gronks play in the end zone against the Panthers that they pulled the flag this time without hesitation.

It's just a continuing problem the league has with inconsistent officials this year.

You can lay it at the feet of Goodell who micro manages the game with rules, so much so that the officials no longer go with their guts but are on alert the entire game for the boogie man..

The league's conspiracy against the Pats is exceeded only by the league's conspiracy against the Browns. Wink

    Here's the rule:  http://www.nfl.com/rulebook/passinterference

    Strict interpretation:  good call.

Generally accepted way it's done by NFL refs:  depends on whether the official who made call got any the night before.

We will never know because the refs cheated for the Patriots once again!

Yup they cheated. Robert kraft went down to the sidelines with a satchel of cash and told the back judge... here's a little something, something. The back judge could be seen running with the satchel but had to drop it to reach for the flag... yup we all saw it.

it was a ticky tack call. By the letter of the rule it was right because the back never looked back but it shouldn't have been called. But then again a Jets fan has no right to complain since they were the benefactors of a ticky tack call, one which was never called before or since

Seeing it live in real time it seemed like a penalty. Having the benefit of seeing the replay when I got home I would have to agree it was borderline. I would say this... as a whole it seemed the entire game was poorly officiated and from the stands it seemed there were multiple missed calls both ways. It will be interesting to go back and watch the game to see if it was as bad as I perceived.
