    Re: Don't watch the draft

yea bro, getting 20 people to not watch the draft wont make an impact.....

Draft is on ESPN and NFL network, none of those are related to the NFL.  NFL Network does not in any way coincide with the NFL or the commish.  Its just another news outlet, kind of like a tabloid magazine for women.

lowering the ratings wouldnt make any sort of point to the league.  and you wont be able to lower TV ratings, i can promise you that.  millions of people watch, you can only put a micro sized dent into that with ur scrappy persuasion skills.  have fun sitting in yo mommas basement on draft day and watching veggie tales, FUCKO

    Maybe not.

I promise to give up watching TV during sweeps week to do my part but there is way that I'm not watching the draft.

I actually think that this year's draft will actually score record ratings with all the hype surrounding it due to the lockout.

In Response to Don't watch the draft:
Let's try to make a statement to the NFL by lowering the ratings of the draft. I know it'll be hard with all the picks the Pats have, but the only power us fans have is to boycott the NFL. Honestly, I'm angered and offended with the current lockout, and hope the two can work things out. However, until that happens, I'm going to refrain from watching the draft of purchasing NFL goods. If you care enough about what is happening between the owners and the players then this should make perfect sense to you. Please, spread the word. I'm sure there are plenty of others that feel the same way. If the ratings drop at least a little it could show that the fans are beginning to become alienated and could help force a deal.

Geez, that may be the closest thing we get to football this season - LOL :).  Not a draftnik, so I wouldn't be watching anyway, but you got to admit - if you're a Pats fan, this draft could be interesting watching no?

Some of us can't watch it due to the time change (I'm stationed in Germany right now).  I loved watching it when it started at 1200 ET, but now it just comes on too late.  Maybe I'll set my clock to wake up at 3AM and see what the Pats did.

Come on, get real.  Anyone reading this thread is a draft nut and i'm certainly not going to deny myself that  small but of fun in the long, dreary off season for the remote possibility that it will effect the thinking of the powers that be in the NFL.

How can they draft players when there's a lock out?  Are they picking players not to play?  It's like having a Job Fair while there's a lock out.

Is a draft even legal?  if there is no CBA and no union, shouldn't a player that is not under contract be allowed to work for any team they want?  Sounds like collusion to me.

    Can you say Antitrust suit?

Hey, lets let fans of crappy teams do the boycotting.. we have 7 picks in 4 Rounds, and im going to watch every pick.  The Jets have half a pic that they will share with the giants in the entire draft.  Whoever they draft will just live at the stadium and only play home games  for either team lol.   Lets let those fans do our dirty work and show the league we mean business.  However I will be making up the hopefully low % of people that do watch!

Does it count towards ratings if I DVR it and watch it an hour after it ends?  I could absoloutley do that lol.

I'm not interested in punishing the NFL.  I don't think empoyees have the right to make the owners prove their earnings, and sure don't think the players have the right to require it.  Play, or don't play.  The spoiled baby's union will never be happy, and won't be reasonable.  The owners are going to have to take the hard line to go forward.  If we don't have football, I'll be bummed.  Once I get football again, I will probably watch.  UNLESS the rules committee continues to undermine the sport with all the silly no touching anyone and kickoffs are now just placing the ball on the 20.  THAT ticks me off, and will be what stops me from participating in NFL programs.

Wow, does it hurt to think that way? While I can understand the wrong choice of siding with the owners, you act as if they aren't responsible for the lockout. They caused it. But you'll be bummed if there is no football that the owners caused to happen. Not to mention, the complaints about the rules changes are changes approved by whom? Mind bottling.

    Re: Don't watch the draft

I think a lot of the responses thus far are the reasons why the NFL can get away with the nonsense they are pulling right now.  Fans will always be fans and they can not only take that to the bank, but then argue over gets more pie.

I'm with you on this.  I'll catch it on the web and read up on the articles about the players here and elsewhere after the draft.  As a matter of fact I'm close to going the next step and "lockout" the NFL in my life for a year.  Between Sunday Ticket, going to a game or two, merchandise and what have you they get a good chunk of change (as far as I'm concerned anyway) every year.  If they keep this up into the summer when camp should be going on, I'm done and won't tune in until 2012.

I can't even begin to express how difficult that will be for me considering I'm a live and breathe type Football fan, but I'm as disgusted by this whole things as I've ever been.  The fans are the only ones truly suffering here, and the countless small businesses that could actually fold because of this is staggering.  No one ever looks out for (or even thinks of) the little guys sadly...

SO Punish one side (The NFL) because two groups of arrogant a$$HOES can't get their act together and stop trying to slay the golden goose?

SORRY.. but the moment Mr Petersen claimed he was a slave I became on the side of the owners....  I am disgusted by people who make millions while others pay all the bills for them to make those millions calling themselves SLAVES.  Had he said that they feel the owenrs make too much, I would have felt it was posturing... and would have continued to listen to both sides.....  But he made that remark and no less than a handul of other players agreed with him.
    BULLCRAP!

Did you read the article about Arrington.... it said that the teams pay for their workouts, and their medical care during the off-season, etc etc etc.... HMMM?

Bodden said in one thing that most of the players just WASTE their money and live "high on the hog".... HMMMM?

Both of these sides sound like the damned US GOv't..... spend billions more daily than you have and blame someone else for you being in trouble.

There was a MLB strike years ago.... and I have not once paid for a season subscription to Extra Innings since.... there was an NHL strike a few years ago.... and I have not bought Center Ice once since....  "IF" the NFL misses one game.. they shall be in the exact same boat... I have had Sunday Ticket for 9 years now.... but... shall they miss a single week, they are toast!

Want to really punish the NFL/PLAYERS.... stop buying their gear, and call Direct TV today and cancel SUNDAY TICKET....  Let them know that you are NO LONGER subscribing to it, and not to auto-renew you for it.   Then call the Cable company (if you have one) and drop ALL sports stuff that have NFL network or anything related to it.....   THEY will figure it out.

I am disgusted by so many who "CLAIM" that they hate what the banks did.. or what GM did.. but they all have their greedy damned hands out for their "FAIR"- (Yeah right) share.

I say that we tell the NFL that they can surely have more money- players and owners alike..... trhey can have all they desire.. Just go buy a damned MONOPOLY BOARD manufacturer and have at it....  other than that.. they can all just BITE ME!!!!
