In Response to Re: Draft: 1st Round Thread:They move Hernandez to slot and trade Welker. If you are going to predict, predict early and often. Just a long shot that most don't expect.

Damn. Pissed about losing out on Brockers. Really liked him, and thought he could make a great 3-4 DE anchor. Richard Seymour type who could contribute immediately next to Big Vince.... oh well. -

In Response to Re: Draft: 1st Round Thread:Who is Bruce Irvin??????
Posted by Rocky10. Bruce Irvin 6-3 244 West Virginia (S. 4.47) R. 7.9
Background: High School – Irvin came out of the Atlanta Prep ranks having played wide receiver at Stephenson HS. He helped lead his team to the state semifinals as a senior. JUCO – Irvin spent two seasons at Mt. San Antonio Community College where he was a JUCO All-American after leading his team to the national title on the strength of 72 tackles, 21 stops for loss, 16 sacks, 10 QB pressures, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and five pass breakups. Junior – Irvin made the jump to the major college level and the Mountaineers for the 2010 season and he led the Big East with 14 sacks among his 21 total tackles. He also forced two fumbles and knocked down a pass as a junior. He had three sacks, a pass breakup, and a forced fumble as part of a four-tackle effort vs. Maryland; he had three tackles, including a pair of sacks, against both Louisville and UConn; and he had two sacks and a forced fumble in the Champs Sports Bowl vs. North Carolina State. Senior – This past season, Irvin was a first team All-Big East selection after leading the team with 15 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles as part of a 40-tackle senior campaign. He had seven tackles, including two sacks, and he forced a fumble vs. Pittsburgh; he had four stops, including two TFLs and a sack, and a forced fumble at Cincinnati; and he had 1.5 tackles for loss among his four total stops in the UConn game. Analysis: After an impressive junior campaign where he burst onto the national scene, Irvin saw his sack total cut in half this year. Some of that can be attributed to his being identified as the key guy teams had to handle, so they chipped him and double teamed him a lot. However, he didn’t adjust as well as he needed to. There were some games where Irvin was very active but there were others where I just didn’t hear his name called much. He’s an ideal 3-4 attacking outside linebacker and he has a lot of skills you want in a player at that position. Going into the year, I thought Irvin could be a first round pick, but he didn’t materialize into that this year. Still, there’s a lot to like about his game. *Combine Note: Ran a 4.43, did 23 reps, and had a 33 ½” vertical jump

With all these questionable picks, that's good news for #Patriots. Plenty of good players still available (Ingram, Mercilus, Jenkins, etc.)

Liking what I see. Lots of REALLY good, versatile OLB/DE types still out there. They all have size, pass-rushing ability, and are stout against the run. Let's see what plays out, but I like the spot we're in. -
