    I deserve the hit!!

Now let me see you get on Obama for his keep your doctor lie and that families will save $2500 on health insurance.

I told you, I never thought the Obama plan was a good one. In fact, the whole process of getting the healthcare bill drafted turned me off to Obama as a leader.  As I explained above, my objections to the plan aren't the conservatives' objections, but they are objections just as well.

What really bothered me about Obama was his failure to lead the country where it needed to go.  Because he failed to do that, he got the wrong plan--and now he and the country are paying the price.  Where I disagree with the current Republican noise machine is with their idea that government involvement in health care isn't necessary or that reform is merely a matter of tort reform.  The basic problem is simple as anyone who is not a partisan hack should be able to admit: Health care is extremely expensive and a large percentage of Americans can't afford it.  You solve that problem in one of three ways:

    • Letting people who can't afford it live (and die) without health care
    • Controlling the cost of health care
    • Subsidizing it for those who can't afford it

The first bullet is not one most Americans would accept--or at least I hope not.  The third bullet is the easiest short-term solution, though it may not be sustainable for the long term if the second bullet is not addressed.  The second bullet is the crux of the problem and, unfortunately, the Obama program does little to fix it.  What Obamacare actually does is provide subsidies by forcing everyone into the private insurance system (or into government health plans where they exist).  This may not seem like a subsidy on the surface, but by putting everyone into the risk pool and requiring a certain minimum level of benefit, it forces the private policyholders to pay for the full group's cost/risk through their premiums.  I think the hope was that costs would somehow decline when uninsured people were insured (better or more timely care, less inefficient cost transfering, etc.), but from an insurance company perspective any savings from those sources will only be realized if providers actually lower their fees for their services, which hasn't happened and likely won't happen. Insurance companies have to charge based on the fees and claims they expect, so with more sick people to insure, their premium charges have gone up, not down. There was also the hope that more healthy, employed young people would buy insurance, adding additional premiums without adding too many more claims.  This too hasn't happened as expected. There just aren't enough of these employed healthy young people to outweigh the cost of providing coverage to older, sicker people--and if you raise premium costs to the extent you need to cover the older, sicker people, you make insurance unaffordable for many of the young.

So it's a big mess.  I agree with you there.  And I blame Obama big time for the mess.  (A lot of my liberal friends get pizzed off at me for that, too.) Where I completely disagree with the conservatives, though, is that I believe the real solution probably requires much more government involvement through direct subsidies to the poor (or government-funded insurance plans like Medicare) and probably through some (I'll say the scary word) "rationing" of health care (at least the portion the government will pay for). Tough decisions need to be made about what the public can be expected to cover and how far we go saving lives when quality of life can't be expected.  Those are tough decisions, but they are far better to make than to drive most people out of the health care market altogether as costs escalate or drive the country to bankruptcy paying for every possible kind of care in every possible situation.

Really?? So the Christian Right voted for the Mormom candidate? All polls of Conservative voters I saw after the election in 2012 said that if Romney got as much of the Republican base to vote for him as McCain did in 2008, Romney would have won the election......

When all else fails , always call someone a name! It is so smart!

I guess maybe you are one of those who doesnt know the 3 branches of Gov? and you are embarrassed - that's okay- i am sure you can find it on the internet somewhere.

I dont know how to tell you this , but Romney isnt a clown, But s study of competence. For all Obama's smashing of Romney's company - he hired one as Chief of Staff and rented his Mathas Vinyard vacation house from another - Can you say the word "HYPOCRiTE" ?

Unlike Obama , or Biden or Hillary or Gore rr Kerry or what everr Dem you like, who have never run anything or know how to do anything except run their mouths  off and then say nothing.            And when they do make a gaffe , which is often, the MSM covers up for them. Wow they are so smart? Must make you smart to believe in them. I have one other word for you DETROIT

I understand why Libs hate God. that's okay, couldnt care less. But why in the hell do Libs try and make God out of men? Nothing worse than to see an adult on his knees worshipping another man,

Yes, nominating a Mormon was stupid. I agree. But it's not like they had other great choices because, in general, conservative politics is just as messed up as liberal politics.

    Baaah sheep... baaah

So some people see conspiracies wherever they look...

Yet when I post above video of CNN news correspondents faking an air raid, pretending they are in Israel taking scud missle attacks when they're actually in a news studio, there is no response from the "everyone who doesn't submit is a conspiracy nut" crew.

Nothing... just tell me I'm crazy again.

BTW this just happened again this past year with Nancy Grace pretending she was speaking with a fellow reporter across the country and it was revealed they were in the same parking lot.

But reality TV is fake, the news and politics are real and the internet is full of lies, this couldn't be the reason the governments of the World (or their banker masters) are doing everything they can to regain control of the internet and reign in the information highway.

Some people will do everything they can to protect themselves from the ugly truth in this world, including lie to themselves, its called cognitive dissonance.

Idiots would imply they are stupid, they are not stupid they are corrupt.

I aree about Ron Paul though, the only guy from either major party who seems legit, who got cheers from the audience at the debates gets summarily ignored by his own party and country at large, perhaps because he was calling to end the Federal Reserve Bank which has been at the heart of bankrupting our country.

At least in Iceland they had the cajones to jail the bankers.

Yes pro you are right - the american people have been sheeple. when , in one poll over 505 do not know our 3 branches of Gov. - nor do thye care to know- we are screwed

And these are primarily the voters who sell the rest of us down the river

Ah ha....its the voters then - nothing to do with GOP running clowns as candidates, due to the infighting of the fractured party.

According to Cris Matthews Obama won because of a hurricane, not because he was the better clown.

    CC

If you read further back, you will see I voted Virgil Goode of the Constitution Party as a write in. Romney was a JOKE - I live in MA, there is NO WAY a Conservative would be voted Governor in the Bluest of the Blue states but yet the Republicans tried to portray him as that....Guess what the blueprint for Obamacare was originally called?? How about ROMNEYCARE as he put it in MA as Governor, Romney signed the MA handgun control act of 1998, which outlawed 90% of semi-automatic handguns made for sale in MA, and also was a key note speaker at pro choice rallies. Yet the Republicans tried to convince America the guy is Conservative by Romney claiming all these were "mistakes"....Read the 100 page report from the GOP on why they lost the election - its the one where they came up with the moniker of Great Opportunity Party....

I don't have a dog in this fight because I have a low opinion of ALL politicians. This thread proves, though, that my dad was right when he told me never to argue about religion or politics with anyone.

Just ask any member of the Christian Right about Mormonism - which they consider a cult....Why was Pat Buchanan, driven out of the Republican Party?? Hes GASP Catholic.

I watched every Republican debate. Except for Ron Paul, they all were ideological idiots. But then, so is Obama.

Yes, nominating a Mormon was stupid. I agree. But it's not like they had other great choices because, in general, conservative politics is just as messed up as liberal politics.

we can only hope that there is a Gov that can win and a populace that doesn't think it to be an American Idol contest. I will never get anybody I am  80 % with! but I just want someone with fiscal and Monetery sense,

As to the Fed? As long as it stuck to one goal, a strong dollar, they were ok, Now i don't think we could take the stench of them oppening up their books. I am hoping against hope that with winding down of QE 3 that we will have some sane non idealgue that can slowly turn the ship around before we all sink. but with Obama there it is so iffy

    Come on Wozzy.

Don't equate phony news with a FEMA Human Roundup Theory.

I don't trust ANY news source for ANYTHING.  They are all pandering for a slice of the audience pie.   Nancy Grace?   My wife had her on one night and I swear every sentence was "Tot Mom" this, "Tot Mom" that.  I said to my wife, I bet she trademarked the phrase.   Sure enough - she did.   There is no bigger phony on cable than her.

    Here's my viewing in total:

    (1) Sports

    (2) Nat Geo Wild

    (3) Smithsonian

News?    As Paul Simon sang "I get the news I need from the weather report ..."

Prolate, I'll give you this ... you present the "liberal argument" better than 99.99% of people who actually vote that way.

[ Now I'll get back to showing you the flaws and fallacies of your thinking :) ]

He presents his political arguments about as well as Rusty and UD6 present football arguments. Mostly he deals in these matters with dishonesty, springing from a warped agenda.

C'mon Babe.   I don't agree with what Prolate says, but his presentation of that side is very, very, good.

Hey!   We agree on something!   I love Ron Paul.   Ever notice how the media tries to discredit him at every turn.  They outright laugh at him.   He truly is a challenge to the status quo.
