Dungy would consider trading Peyton Manning

Just cruising the Yahoo site and came across this article:

Wow - does anyone here think that Dungy would actually trade Gomer if he was still with the Dolts - or do you think this is Dungy just posing for his scintillating new broadcasting career? -

I think he sees they are going full boar for the Luck sweepstakes and realizes that with Manning 50/50 on coming back to full form it's better for the Colts to ditch Manning before his 28mil bonus kicks in next season and start rebuilding now with Luck and spending money on the D. -

He's probably thinking that if the Colts get Manning Back next year even Manning won't be able to bring them back to a playoff team. The Deterioration of the Colts team has been well chronicled on this forum and even Dungy can't help but see that Manning will be long retired before the damage is repaired and the Colts make the Playoffs again. You have to figure after they fire Caldwell, Polian will bring in some Lackey puppet to tank future games for the team. The players that starred on this team 2-4 years ago will all be gone shortly and Dungy figures they may as well get something for Manning before his neck completely snaps and his head falls off on the field. Polian on the other hand is a maniacal sadist who would like to watch Manning suffer before him every week in return for the contract he recently awarded to a geriatric Quarterback. It should be interesting to watch, I'll stay tuned in. -

Who would trade for him really? Indy is the only team dumb enough to give him a huge 5 year contract with a possible career ending injury. He wouldn't have gotten half that elsewhere, his contract makes him untradeable. -

I tell you something scary... if he gets cut.. Manning will be a Cowboy.. that team would be amazing. -

Are you really sure abou that? The Raiders just gave up 2 #1 picks for Carson Palmer
I think there are a few teams struggling with attendance and credibility issues who would trade for Manning in a heartbeat - not that they wouldn't be making a big mistake:) -

The pats would be a better team with Manning. -

There are a handful of tems that Manning would immediately upgrade. Cowboys, Ravens, Bears, Titans, Philly. Some of these have QBs in place, but all would be much better with Manning and they could be serious contenders with him. -

Yup. Use the windfall from the Luck sweepstakes or Peyton Manning to rebuild the rest of the team. The tough call is deciding which one to move forward with
personally, i'd love to see the Rams (who will have a HUGE edge in the weakest schedule tiebreaker in the NFC West) win the Luck sweepstakes, trade it, keep Luck out of the AFC East & the Dolphins and keep Luck from helping the cowardly, tanking Colts -

If he gets dumped, I can see the Cowboys biting. Even if Peyton comes back at 75%, that would still be a close to unstoppable team IMO.
Defense is amazing and they have weapons galore.
But we all know that Manning is not going anywhere, he will retire before he gets traded/released. -

Minnesota should trade for him! Or the Seahawks Pete Carroll would do it! -

Not possible... Simply because Brady is better than Manning. Always was and obviously now always will be. Manning won a single super bowl. He will be lost in the crowd in history's eyes years from now but Brady has done and will do so much more and will be always remembered as one of the best ever. Ray Lewis states he is going to tell his kids about playing against the best ever (Brady). I don't recall him ever saying that about Manning. Good try though troll, now back to your bridge or has that 0-6 record caused it to collapse yet? lol -

Not arrogance when its true. In 7 games, the colts have lost 2 more games without Manning than the pats lost without Brady. Fact. -

Its because your Dolts are terrible!
Cassel was playing on a 16-0 squad full of weapons and veterans on defense...
Pats would be better with manning? Last I checked, Manning is injured, having to absorb his massive salary while watching him sit on the sidelines would not make us any better. -

Posted by UD6Cassel is better than anyone you have started at QB. The Pats schedule that year was pretty soft. Also your defense just gave up 62 points in one game and you wonder why you are 0-7 (Hint it's not just the fact that Peyton is gone). -

It's also a fact that the Pats won 16 games the previous year. And that they only beat one team with a winning record in 2008, but beat 6 playoff teams in 2007. And that the Pats backup QB is now a starter who has been to a Pro bowl and taken another team to the playoffs. Also a fact is that Kurt Warner's 2009 Cardinals actually won a playoff game and went on to the division round. The next year they were 5-11 went Warner retired. 49ers went from 12-4 to 4-12 after Young. Denver went from 10 wins to 2 wins after Morton. What 2 things do all these guys have in common? None are considered the best of all time, all had crappy BU QB's. -

Posted by UD6This says nothing about who is the better qb as much as who is the more important to his team. Manning obviously means more to the colts than brady does to the pats...but that speaks more about the disfunction of the colts as a team. -
