DWIGHT FREENEY IS AVAILABLE NEXT WEEK TO THE PATS?

he WILL BE CUT next week by the colts. still think we will go after mario but if this guy is hanging around after alll the damage he's done over the years, y not take a shot with freeney if we cant get mario for whatever reason. freeney with a healthy andre carter and andersen gives you a nice rush along with some nice drafted guys. freeney is very similar to seymour and wont cost us more than a 2 year deal.

i stand corrected, kind of got ahead of myself. but he will be out there by some point next week.he's due $14m from the colts this year and will be a $19m cap hit if on the roster this season. no way they will trade him for that kind of reality and no way they will keep him. freeney is not interested in redoing his deal. he will be out there next week!

19 mil on the roster, and he won't take a penny less.  For that money i'll take Mario in a heartbeat, Freeney gets bulldozed in the run game and looked totally disinterested in 2011.

well,well,welll... we have to spend some $ to get what we want at that position. in this case u get what u pay for. we need to get a legit pass rusher, every down DE.. this aint andersen, he's a specialist like all guys u will pay with a discount. andre carter was legit but not a double team stud. vince is a stud but towards the run game. we need a vince in the pass defense game... be it mario or freeney, give them the vince money then dole out low $ to the andersens and carters. they will thrive as secondary guys. SPEND THE $$$, its been too long.

A tad worried about Freeney's overall healthy/ability to stay on the field but would be glad to see the Pats kick tires on him and at the right price...sure

That's too much money at one position.

They have to sign the rookies and get FA help at three positions DL, WR & DB. Spend $19 million on one FA and what's left for the rest?

Am I off base on that??

morons, they wont give him anything near 19m! thats just silly money to make their situation work at the time in indy. he'll get a bit less than what vince makes annually.. talk 6m or so.. pehaps 2 years at 13.5.. thats still a discount for his resume.. thats the low side of his market value!

It's possible, but not probable. Also, freeney is no where close to being Seymour ot Seymour freeney. You do know the difference between a 4-3 end and a 3-4 end I assume?

Didn't Seymour play in both systems? his first 3 years and definitely in 2001 we played mostly 4-3 before converting to more of a 3-4. freeney was often compared to seymour when both were the most dominant in the game.
freeney is younger than seymour, drafted a year later.. Pay the man!

Re: DWIGHT FREENEY IS AVAILABLE NEXT WEEK TO THE PATS?

I was talking about Mario Williams not Freeney and Williams will command that kind of money so he's not coming here.

From what I've read Freeney is on the trading block and regardless the Pats don't have the money to pay him just less than Wilfork either.

Pay who? Yes he did, but he is not a pass rushing 4-3 DE. Freeney is. Seymour played DT in the 4-3, and was a dominant end in the 3-4. Perhaps they were compared due to their respective dominance at their respective positions. That is it. They are no where near similar players.

    Freeney    6ft 1in     268 lbs

    Seymour    6ft 6 in   310lbs

    different cats

Seymour was somewhat like a McGinnest ( 6ft 5 in  270lbs) Hybrid ,he could do DE 4/3 and DT in a 3/4 . Willy could put his hand on the ground out of the 3/4as DE ( I guess that means 4 down lineman ... so maybe we did that back then too!) and be an OLB with coverage skills in a traditional 3/4.

Freeny is neither of these guys , but  I would love to see him here. He has somewhat local roots, Bloomfield CT so maybe he would come here with reasonable salary ( no one is giving him 19M!) to play for a ring.

Pass....Best days are behind him. His greatest asset was his initial first step. He's lost a bit of that and well, it happens to the best of them.

Peyton is still heading to Houston.
