Welker is a choke artist who disobeys his coach's direct orders not to engage in smack talk and drops the biggest catch of his life.  Edelman consistently comes through when he's needed most.

Hey Rusty, how many times over the past several months have you been on here telling me and everyone else what a great signing Amendola was and how he was going to do all these wonderful things and be so much better then Welker?  Hahaha!!

Now you are on the Edelman bandwagon since all your Amendola predictions have failed.  But hey, we should expect that around here from you. Anything to protect BB, right?
Let me tell you something right now...If we win the SB and Amendola and Edelman each have nice postseasons, you may need to leave this board in outright embarrassment.  I'll judge the big picture between using Edelman/Amendola at 7 million and watching Welkie collect meaningless 8 yard passes as he plays out his final years in Denver for 12 million dollars, thanks very much.

This is what you don't get and why I know you bandwagoned over here in 2007.

Not one legit Pats fan cared about weekly stats on offense when we won SBs. That's a fact. No one cared. We all knew our teams were better than Indy. Indy had stats, we had a better TEAM. I've been on these boards long enough to know that, have plenty of friends (and family) who are PAts fans who also never had weekly chats about how many stats Troy Brown had, Branch, GIvens, etc. No one cared.

I've exchanged emails with moron writers from Indy or Pitt back in 2001, 2003, 2004, etc, telling them why their teams would lose. No one understood the genius of the Pats teams of yesteryear was the balance and depth.  I may even still have them. It'd be funny to post them.

Ed Bouchette at the Pitt Post Gazette probably knows me by name at this point. Same with that toolbag over at the Indy Star.  Their arrogance was all tied to "so and so has better stats"...then, whamo, January rolls around and the stats aren't there.  It's just so simple. Simple to educated fans. You aren't one of 'em.

All those players from Indy, Pitt, etc, went to Pro Bowls because their stats were a bit better. Whopdee-do! Whopdee-freaking-doo!

I knew our teams (TEAM) were better across the board.  Indy, Pitt, etc had players who had bloated stats and were entitled.  So, I sat back and smiled and watched it play out. The general media were always so surprised when the Pats won, but I knew why.

See, this is WELL before you started following our team.

No one started threads about David Givens sucking or Randall Gay sucking because they didn't have stellar games every week like we see now about Edelman, Amendola, Dobson, Thompkins, insert new player here. Or, someone like Arrington. Or, whining about how McCourty isn't any good or whatever.

Did anyone care BB moved Eugene Wilson to Safety in 2003? NO!

    No one cared!

So, Wes Welkie can pad his stats with Gomer all day long. I DO NOT CARE ABOUT STATS. I care about how our team can win games.

Sorry, Wazzu, I know we have a bet. Nothing personal, but Denver ain't winning a SB in a blizzard outdoors. They may not even get there.
No worries, Man.  Great thread.  I agree that Edelman is least equally as valuable to our offense as Welker ever was.  We could argue all day long about who is a better WR, but I won't go there because they have different skill sets, as you mentioned.  I agree that Edelman's versatility is a huge asset to this year's team.  As for our bet, it's still wide open.  After the game the other night, I definitely don't feel as strongly about Denver winning it all, but I'm still very worried about the refs bailing Gomer out in some key spots to help him do it.  Hope I'm wrong.  Still standing by the bet.  If KC can beat Denver this weekend, I'll feel even better about NE's chances, but I'm having a hard time seeing KC winning this one.  Unfortunately, the weather looks like it will be pretty nice in KC for Gomer on Sunday.

    In response to DeadAhead's comment:

Whoa....Maybe this board is acting weird? That literally posted by itself..

    Let me continue..

So, after Edelman became a top notch Special Teams ace, settling into the status as best punt returner in NFL history this year, able to turn a game around at any moment, he's also become a very good WR in this league.

He does everything Welker would do and more.

    1. He can behind defenses deep.

    2. He's tough.

    3. He can line up on the outside or inside and be equally effective.

    4. He is effective on plays in the shotgun or when Brady is under center.

    5. He's a very good blocker.

The bonus with all of this is not only his current price tag, but his humble attitude, no apparent ego and the fact Brady isn't fixated on him every week within the gameplan.

Personally, I feel walking from Welkie does a lot in terms of upping our odds that we won't have a drippy offense in an AFC Title game or SB this year, if we make it.

In a nutshell, we get the Welkie plays when we need it, but our offense is less predictable.

    PS Thanks again, BB.

Well that is the ultimate goal is the SB and I would want nothing more then to see this team get another ring but on the other hand if they don't win the SB then we can also question the move and you might need to leave the board out of embarrassment, especially since there has already been a few games that I would pretty much guarantee Patriot wins had Welker been on the team instead of Amendola that would have ultimately lead to home field advantage through out the post season.  Jets game, Bengals game and Panthers game where Amendola was nowhere to be found and Edelman did nothing.  Those are facts!  I know2 you have a very hard time with facts.  And lord help us all, if the Broncos win it all.... you may want to toss those BB undies away.

Let us hope, now that Edelman is in a full time role, not being a back-up, his skills will bear out that he is on par with Welker.  Let's not get too excited after 11 games, but, the prognosis is good.

How long did you play in the NFL for and how many rings do you have? Using your logic, I guess you must have sucked. Lol

I bet that you are one of the very very very few people who have played in the toughest league in the world and still constantly bash a tremendous player that gives it his all and takes a beating every game.

You're kind of a joke if you truly feel this way.

Bustchise, we get you;re jealous and in misery as the Jets look to lose 3 games in a row, but that's your problem.

This is the time of year where you go a bit quiet after being VERY MOUTHY, because almost everything I told you would happen, has happened.

How's Dee Milliner doing?  Did you enjoy Logan Ryan picking Gomie on Sunday?   I did.

    bawahh

    awbahaha

It must really burn you to see the Jets pick Kerley, we pick Edelman or we pick Dennard in Rd 7, Ryan in Rd 3 and you have Wilson and Milliner dancing around on the field wasting everyone's time, huh, Bustchise?

    LOL!

The utter joy of seeing it all unfold as the season goes after you bought in with PSL in hand.

    Priceless.

Does everything you told me would happen include the Jets being 1-10 right now and KC slapping Denver and Amendola being better than Welker? Hahah good thing you didn't take any of those friendly wwagers Wink

And to think a few short seasons ago there were many threads here about Edelman being on the bubble and it was greatly discussed if he should even be here on the team.  He tried FA this season and there were no takers, thank goodness because Amendola has not earned 1/4 of his contract and we cant seem to get Dobson or Thompkins to step up enough to play a leading role.

Even though Edelman has only been effective in a few games this season, I love the dudes heart and willingness to do what is needed to help the team.  Hope he can stay healthy the rest of the season.

Thank goodness we have one of the GOAT's of all time playing QB!

He never played.  Former players never talk about other players like he does, they give even the worst players respect for what it takes to get to that level and play in the NFL.   I know a few former NFL players and they would never talk about players like he does.  That his a huge, huge red flag with RallyC.. Maybe he is just a washed up jealous guy who wishes he could have been all that he says he was.  Hahaha!!

That fact drives the TFB12, Mt Hurl, NAS types crazy. Anyone who hates BB as a Pats fan, which is very creepy, like they do,...they cannot stand what just happened.

Who hates BB?  He is the greatest ever in my eyes but make no mistake about it, BB has made many errors concerning this team that has resulted in SB rings.  You want to talk about dropping passes, BB has had his fair share in the coaching department.
