I can honestly say to everyone on this post that I have never, repeat never, dreamed about the Jets or any other football team and I will never, ever dream about them. On the other hand, when I am not in the dream world I enjoy watching football, especially when the Patriots beat the living hell out of the Jets. It makes the rest of my day stupendous!

I lived in New York (college) for four years in the mid/late 80s, and I can tell you for a fact that this guy, and other Jets trolls do, in fact, represent the maturity and intelligence level of the average New Jersey Jets fan.

Most are not very bright, not very mature, and far too easily convinced that the team is much, much better than it really is heading into every season.

Giants fans are obnoxious, but at least they know football and have functioning brain cells.

If the Jets get Asomuagha--or however his name is spelled--that would, indeed, give them a sick pass defense. It would be very, very hard to throw on them, especially to the outside. They would no doubt be a force to be reckoned with.

That said, those two guys can't cover the entire field, can they? A team with multiple weapons and a great short passing game (and decent running game) will still give them trouble. The gameplans they employed against Manning and Brady in last year's playoffs won't work every time they're tried, because NFL coaches eventually "figure things out" and adjust--not so easy to do during the course of a single game, but over time, it's almost always done.

Its sad that The Jets fanbase thinks they are sooooo great because they beat the Pats in the playoffs....like that is what they measure their success on...they forget they didn't make the big dance ....again......they are just happy with beating the Pats in the playoffs...thats good enough for them...they are content with that..Talk about OBSESSION!!

Patriots over the last decade: 3 Super Bowl wins 4 Super Bowl Appearances 5 AFC title game Appearances 8 Playoff Appearances in 10 years. 16-0 regular. Record breaking history 11-5 with a back up QB when no one thought we would win 8 games. 14-2 in a rebuilding year Tom Brady - 50 TD Passes in 1 year NFL record Randy Moss - 23 TD Catches in 1 year NFL record What have the jets done in the past 10 years? lose 2 titles games? wow. who cares The Eagles lost 6 of them. ask them how proud they are of that.

The Jets are for real, and watching the Pats lose a home playoff game to the Jets, of all teams, made me want to throw up in my mouth. But... of these two teams, there's only one that has "dominated" for years, and that is most definitely not the Jets.

Newsflash--for all their mouthing off, the Rex Ryan Jets have never won anything.

Come back after you've at least won an AFC championship.

after some thought, I hope they get Aso. Why? You lose Edwards, slightly improve at CB2, lose Ellis, Smith, and many others.

Then, ask yourself, would replacing Cromartie with Nnamdi have helped you win against the Steelers? WOuld they have shut down Rashad Mendenhall? I doubt it. The YETS still were going to get run over by the steelers and beat deep by their #3 and #4 WR's.

Tying 25+ million if not 30+ million into two cornerbacks is a great I idea, AMITITE?

Sorry dude. The offense that just took this team 14-2 got key upgrades and depth. The Defense got way better even before getting Painsworth just by getting their IR'd players back. The fact that you even bothered to post here means that you are probably terrified of how much the Jets are gonna get beat down this year.

Go ahead and get Asomugha - the more you overpay and overleverage yourselves on a very few players that you bank all of your hopes on, the more that the Patrios just shift their game in another direction and beat you down again. Asomugha and Revis can't help with the running game. They can't help much with shortball either. Spread 'em and they can only cover one guy each (as implied in "man" coverage). And I seriously hope that you realize if ONE of them gets hurt your season goes by by.

    Good luck chump. :)

    Posted by 1anddone-again
LOL. You are hilarious. Cap and salary restructuring still HURTS them. You are not changing pay. Each player will still be owed and bog down the JETS next year, the year after. It's not a winning formula. The Jets are the most desperate in-the-now team in the NFL, yet, no Super Bowls. Not even a division title. Hence, why NE may not win a SB every year, but we'll certainly be in it for the division title. You guys in your desperation to get NA just lost one of your most versatile players and your entire Wildcat Offense to Buffalo. Goodbye, Brad Smith! We just picked up a 3rd down DL pass-rushing specialist, that if we ONLY use him on 3rd down & close running situations, hampers every offense, especially the anemic LT running game. Losing Smith AND Cromartie, you also have lost your kick returning special teams, another VERY powerful aspect of the Jets game that allowed them so much success last year. Gone! Poof! Short-term thinking rather than special teams thinking. So, go blow the bank on SA and have amazing downfield coverage. The Pats are building one of the most versatile running attacks and receiving corps, and offensive lines in the NFL. Big picture thinking versus short term desperation.

Of course they'll do whatever they can to make their deal cap friendly...They are getting most of the $ up front in the form of a guaranteed bonus.  Who wouldn't take that deal?

There is an old line of thought that says, "Give me 53 players on their final year of their contract and I'll give you a championship".  The Jets are happy to pay now and get results later...maybe.

Why would we not talk about the YETS?  You guys talk just as much about us on your boards.  We have to play the YETS twice a year, you're division opponents and you knocked us out of the play-offs last year, of course we talk about the YETS, its part of the whole thing, just as it very obviously is for you.  Your very presence here proves that in spades you dope.  We also talk about the Fins and the Bills and many other teams but we love  you guys to death, LITERALLY...

Really?  So that was the Jets' goal, to beat the Pats?  That's it?

Way to set the bar for success.  Aim high.  There are about ten teams in this league that are significantly better than the Jets.  It's not just the Pats keeping your team out of the SB running.

    Posted by saxydogg77
It wasn't cap friendly at all.  The deal is that the bonus or guarenteed monies, which was large, can be spread over a 5yr period.  When you do something like this you have to worry about your cap space for 5yrs.

As for the Jets being a nightmare not so much.  The worry is the Jets catching up with us.  After the FA spree the Pats may have put some distance between the teams.
