What made the call seem unusual is it's a new rule and this was the first time it was enforced, according to former NFL vice president of officiating Mike Pereira.

That is correct call in NE/NYJ game. New rule this year can't push a teammate into the offensive formation on a field goal or try attempt.

Of course not.  The call should have never been called in the first place.

There’s no other way to describe how the Patriots lost to the New York Jets 30-27 in overtime in the Meadowlands. The last act of the loss they snatched from the jaws of victory was watching Nick Folk miss a 56-yard game-winning field goal, getting prepared to send the offense onto the field in ideal field position – and having it all wiped out because of Chris Jones’ personal foul for illegally pushing a teammate into the line.

Fox officiating analyst and former NFL head of officiating Mike Pereira tweeted seconds after the call, on the Jets’ first overtime possession, that the rule was instituted this season

Sounds like 31 coaches are smarter than BB who after getting away with cheating vs the Saints, thumbed his nose at the NFL and got caught.

Or the fact that Rex pulled the same stunt at the end of regulation in that game...no call obviously

No it hasn't been called since ! Also it shouldn't have been called in that game either! But when the bookies threaten to withhold this weeks paychecks Referees listen! I honestly don't know how the Patriots have been allowed to win 10 games let alone 1. If the referees get any worse I will write a suggestion to the NFL and ask for computerized drones to be the referees! 3 PI's and the ludicrious pushing a lineman call only proves my theory that the NFL is corrupt, not just the refs but the entire league. We didn't have near as many missed calls that conviently favor certain teams before Goodell became Commissioner, yeah there would be the occassionally missed but nothing in comparisson to what's happening in this league this year!

Welcome to the WWE, NFL style!

Mike Pereira is nothing more than a TV schill he's not a representative of the NFL. He also has season tickets to games played in the Meadowlands.

Gotta let it go.. doesn't matter at all now.  Call was made, game is history, Pats lost.  Didn't help the Jets much, though.  They won their SB.
