Isn't it just free for the first year though?   Still a decent commitment considering the long term contract and the fact that it will never be free again as far as I understand it.

Just lock in for 2 years, you are going to have cable anyways.  After getting the first year free or you are on contract with them then just call directv (make sure you talk to the retention department) right before football season and tell them the other local cable company has some good deals going on right now and they have offered to buy you out of your directv contract.  Tell them you like directv because of the Sunday ticket package but you can not afford this season.  Ask if they can give you a deal on it and you will stay with them.

Works every time.  Might take a few calls to get a person that will offer you a deal.  If you get someone who doesn't offer a deal you just say you are going to think about it.  Call back the next day or two and talk to someone new.

First row sports has adds but the content has been blocked , there are other sites that repeat ther content and are availible.

    http://www.hahabar.tv/sports/american-football.html

dont install anything, wait unti the ticker counts down to close adds. I find a virus protector that has a site advisor useful.

" dont install anything, wait unti the ticker counts down to close adds. I find a virus protector that has a site advisor useful."

I would add that if you must install anything from any of these sites be very, very careful.  I am usually very cautious when it comes to these kinds of things.  However last year, I downloaded something that I thought was necesary from First Row's Website and ended up with a brand new Default Web Browser call Delta.  It took me a long time to get rid of this and it was an absolute nuisance to remove it.  Oh, and thrown in was all kinds of Spam for Porn that came to my Email Address as well.  I don't know how they got hold of my email address but they did.

I think what could have happened is that there might have been a plug needed and it was there for me to install.  But they surround the plug you might need with other plugs and crapola that can be mistaken for the correct one.   if you hit the wrong one, problems like I mentioned can happen.

So yeah, be careful what you download from these sights.

Tell me about it!  My boy was over last week trying to watch the fight. He was trying to get on firefox, the site kept asking to download these HD players and I was like I have the Alshow, it plays all codec, anything so he would d/l something, still nothing, but at the end of the day, I never got to see the fight and I had all this crap on my laptop. About 3 new browing tabs. A new search engine, etc. When I opened a new tab, I would usually see my most visited sites or history and now nothing. I was so Tight! I havent even went back and tried to fix it. I told my Boy Neva Again. He can bring his own laptop over for that. I was just gonna watch the fight cuz it was free, but Its not that serious.

It is! Make no mistake. Its just like with cellphones. You want a new one, here its free after signing on to a new 2 year deal. NOthing is free really. I have month to month cuz I trust none of these scam phone companies. I dont need a new shiny phone to spy on me every year. Thats what I was getting at directv. Great customer for years but every year I had to call and have them credit me cuz they would go up on sunday ticket. 3 years ago , my boy told me he called and they gave it to him for 100. I cancelled after that. They sent me sh*t for weeks saying here is 300 to come back. It will be free for a year as will other stuff and then all of a sudden it kicks in, along with the HD that was free and dvr, etc. new bills out the blue

With me now having 2 younger kids and the fact I cant dedicate a full day to football, I stopped it and now just pay to get redzone channel on infinity/comcast. Only 4.95

so yea, nothing is free. Time and  commitment and the bill goes up 3.99 every 3 months! Stick to the streaming

It's very similar to the leech concept when downloading a torrent from a music site. Too many leeches and it slows down the download. Once a seed is created, it helps the speed.

For those who have no idea what I am talking about, don't bother trying to comprehend. lol

Malwarebytes, the free version is fine, CCleaner and rkill.  These will fix your problems most of the time.  Also, it is always a good idea to set up a second user account.  Sometimes viruses will make it so you can't run certain programs or get on the internet for the user account you are on so you log off that user account, sign on the 2nd user account and you will be able to run all programs and get on the internet.

I was more talking about Etree and live music recordings for bands and artists that allow taping.  Not everyone might know the concept behind a "seed" or a "leech" and download speeds.

Good man.  Never hurts to run them every so often, regardless what you do or don't do on the net.  ccleaner keeps your registry clean and some other good tools, do a full system scan with malwarebytes before you go to beds or before leaving for work.  Let it run while sleeping or gone.

Used to use Pirate Bay, but it;s a virus patch over there. I try to avoid downloading anything from sites like those.  I don't really go after a lot of digital music much anymore.  I download free live shows to check out bands I may not know and just collect used vinyl at this point.

If an artist or band releases a new album, I'll buy it from Amazon or Itunes to support them, but that's about it.

Do you download audio of the live show or actual video of the show? I havent bought music from amazon yet. With the music I like, I would be a fool to buy it before listening so the downloads were to review the album and then support if good. In hip hop, too many clowns out there selling out for a check. I really just listen to old school music now. I go to shows to support people I know in music but thats about it. You missing out not being up here anymore. Middle East just had a nice show 2 weeks ago.

The 2nd user account is really the best thing that people usually never get around to doing.  As for the software fixes (IT guy here) it's like spy vs. counterspy.  The virus criminals (that's what they are) can pump out malicious software faster than the fixes are made available.

The music scene is solid down here, too. Tons of festivals, for example.  It's not hip hop, but you get all the regional hippie festivals with jambands, folk, weird stuff, international stuff, blues, jazz, rock, etc.

PLus, this is a big college pocket here, just like in Boston. Nothing beats that area, though because of all the clubs all within 2 hours of one another.

Middle East has been solid for booking unknown artists or bands that you can check out on the cheap. We used to go in there back in the mid 90s.  The Paradise, too.  Those were two big ones back in the day.  One of my uncles ran the lights for U2s first ever show on American soil. I have a DAT recording of that one.  March 6th, 1981.

But, the extended springs and falls down here allow for more regional festivals w.camping where you can see a ton for a very reasonable price. Best way to be exposed to new music. MySpace and YouTube definitely has changed things in terms of making it easier to check new stuff out. Or, older stuff with bands or artists you simply just missed.

I've seen many bands who were nothing 4 and 5 years ago who are now doing arenas. Not my thing in most cases because you can tell they sort of sold out, but hey, they got their start on the regional festival circuit. The midwest has a lot of good festivals, too.

Virginia just had Interlochen, which was HUGE.  I couldn't make it work, but what a lineup.

You like hip hop, I don't, so we're not going to cross paths much on music taste.

Thats Crazy! 1981!!  Havent heard the term "dat" since I was recording music back then.

Thats ok, I listen to much more than hip hop as that is a dying era if you ask me. Well its gonna go on forever but the quality is bad the agenda is Huge!

No, I mean a 2nd account under Windows.   Not sure what you have for an operation system.  User Accounts are created under the Control Panel.  Then you can toggle between user accounts when you restart.  Comes in handy when one account gets infected beyond repair.

Oh, I got you now. That makes a lot of sense.  Im not an I/t person by any means but I have a couple of "go to" guys I usually have help with stuff. I recall when my mom got her desktop, she had that setup where you choose a user at the beginning. I got windows 7 now. I dont get the user options on my laptop obviously but I can do this by just creating 2nd account through control panel? Aslo will the new account be set to my default settings? Thats my problem now is my browser looks foreign and I dont have my new tabs with my search history.

I so miss DirecTV.  Hate watching games through the free sites.  For those with a Playtation 4, you can purchase NFL Sunday Ticket.  Crazy expensive considering one gets a bunch of Pats games nationally tv'd anyway.

Nonetheless, I really miss just being able to splurge on Sunday Ticket.  Not many luxuries these days, but that one was worth it.

Yea I agree! I used to be glued to the TV all day watching but I will say after a while, you feel like you are wasting money. I mean no way you can actually enjoy ALL those games at once. I would be sooo exhausted by end of sunday night. What I would do is just focus on the games that were still close in the 2nd half. With 2 little ones, its almost impossible to get my money worth. Now I just keep the redzone channel on(available on comcast) sports package for only 4.95. It lets me see all the Action, every TD and its never any dead time. NO Commercials

Yes, the 2nd user account is important and most people don't know about it.  IT guy here too, it is amazing the junk that is out there just to harm computers.   The programs I use most to get rid of the junk are malwarebytes, ccleaner and rkill as I mentioned.  On occassion I have had to load and run spybot (disable teatimer) and the program superantispyware.   The best way to remove spyware and or viruses is to remove the hard drive if possible and run malwarebytes.

For those who want to speed up your computer and keep it running in tip top shape get and run the following:

    ccleaner

    http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner

This program cleans up your computer by removing files, registry entries, cookies, and temp files along with other useful shit.  I run this after I find and remove spyware, or after doing updates, and at least once a week.

Run the Cleaner and Registry buttons.  On Registry do a scan then fix,  back up registry everytime.

(you might want to uncheck some things like saved passwords, everything under windows explorer,  read everything that you have checked and understand what it is.)

    Defraggler

    http://www.piriform.com/defraggler

This is Windows Defrag with a 12 inch c0¢ck and supermodel gf.... It can defrag files individually. If one or two of your programs are struggling, you can specifically target them in the process during a quick defrag. It has a lot of improvements from the standard defrag.

DO NOT DEFRAG A SSD DRIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Ninite

    http://ninite.com/

Ninite updates multiple apps at once, you open it, it will show you what programs need to be updated, you click update and it updates all of them for you.  This program kicks butt.

Watch a demo of this program on you tube... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMt2QoGWUpk

    Program Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter

    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall

This will fix any errors with uninstalling a program, If you've ever tried to uninstall something and it gives you a big fat error then you will love this. It works on 64 bit systems unlike the old cleanup utility.   Always try to use the control panel uninstall way first.

    Junkware removal tool

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/junkware-removal-tool/

Junkware Removal Tool is a security utility that searches for and removes common adware, toolbars, and potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) from your computer.  A common tactics among freeware publishers is to offer their products for free, but bundle them with PUPs in order to earn revenue.  This tool will help you remove these types of programs.

      ***********

Use these tools and you will never have to call or take your computer to another computer guy again.  Put these on flash drive and fix your family and friends computers, heck put the word out that you can clean computers and speed them up, use these programs and charge them!  LOL!
