Well . . .   you've got to admit, Brady was pretty wooden on Saturday Night Live, so the idea that -- theoretically -- Joe Flacco could outperform Tom Brady at something is at least open to debate.

    But in the conference championship?

    Oh . . .   I don't think so.

Manning was better on saturday night live, especially the united way commercial send up but the sexual harrasment training film with Brady in it was pretty funny.

Passing stats are a bit inflated now. Saints were 22 yards from tying that Pats mark. It's more than just coincidence that the three statistically worst pass defenses happened to have come in the last two seasons.

If you adjust our D's passing yard numbers from last year by the leaguewide averages given up around 25-30 years ago vs these days, they still are top 10 if not top 5 worst in history.

Manning would have done the sexual harassment skit better than Tom, but since he has a skeleton in the closet on that sort of thing it's probably better he left it to Tom.

I don't know, what does it matter.  Flacco played one of the worst pass defenses in NFL history and Brady played one of the best.  If you give Brady the ball with 2 minutes left to win the game he will almost always do it.  He did last year and they went to the SB the rest is just soap opera.

This; McCourty and Arrington were the second worst CB duo in NFL history. Joe Flacco piled up yards on the second worst CB duo in NFL history, why he got the credit he got is a mystery to me.

Let's see him do it to Talib, Dennard and McCourty patroling the deep ball.

    Source?

How can that even be true?   Arrington had like 8 INTs and was a Pro Bowl candidate for RCB last year.  Do you realize how dumb that sounds when we know there are literally dozens of god awful pass defenses from other eras in this league's history?

Arrington is much better suited for the slot and certainly isn't some great CB, but please. Some of our own fan's lack of knowledge of NFL history is disturbing.

Don't expect false statements to go unchecked here.

You spoiled pink hats think BB would keep players who are that bad on the his club?

Brady needs to not be an idiot like throwing into double coverage thinking he's a hero or lobbing underthrown deep balls into triple coverage AFTER his own pass D hooks him up in enemy territory.

NE runs away with that game if Brady doesn't have such a bad game Ugh.

Rock, dude, the 2011 New England Patriots defense is in the record books as the secondary that gave up the 2nd most yards in NFL history.

    They're in the record books.

Last time: no one cares about yards and I can guaradamndarntee you that other teams also are in the books from LAST YEAR.

Last year, 3 QBs threw for 5000 yards.   DO THE MATH.

Points against is what matters.  Please learn the game.  GB also finished behind NE LAST YEAR.

So, that would mean the "30th ranked" defense in 2011 is also in the books. Get it?  It's an offensive era to set up passing yards, with phantom PIs, roughings, no off PI called, no holding called, etc.

    WAKE UP.

God forbid Brady blows it on Sunday. Flacco has no business outperforming Brady this year, last year or any year at home.

Worst DPR to ever play in a Super Sowl.  Can't win with that.  No one ever has!

Facts are facts, No team, no matter how good their offense,  has ever won a Super Bowl with such a horrific DPR.  Fact!  Fact! Fact!

Don't even bother saying no one ever looks at that because apparently they DO as it's been  in the books since the very first SB. (actually 1940)

    Do you know what a DPR is?   You obviously don't as you keep relating it to the NFL's passer rating system.  It's much more than that.  It includes ;

    % Yards YPP TDs  INTs

    Study up!

For a quick comparrison, NE's DPR in 2005  was a  poor 87.8  (26th) ,the worst team in the league had a 100.7.  Ne's last year was a 102.2

Ne's this year until the last 4-5 games was also a 102+, They've brought it down to a (unrespectable) 92+.

For comparision sake, of all play-off teams, 10 of 12, had a DPR of 78 or less.

NE is NOT in that group, they are last, and all the proof you need to prove NE's Defense did them no favors.  It's a miracle they even made the play-offs,  never mind win the SB.

Ironic that supposed worst defense in history put the team IN THE SB. Christ, you're a moron.

NE bailed Brady out in the Dallas and Giants games, numerous times. Brady choked away the game in Buffalo and it could be argued the D flipped the script in Pitt in the second half with Brady lining up in the shotgun with 1st and goal from 1, wasting precious seconds.

You're a moron for thinking BB had to build a lock down D in milliseconds from 2009-2010, too.

An absolute utter moron. The guy picks from 28-32 every year in Round 1 and was budgeting off the lockout.

Only you wouldn't appreciate this, realize a young DD overachieved to help put them in that SB last year. Their mental toughness, while not the most talented of Ds is also to be commended. With a little luck and a healthy Andre Carter, they win it all.  Fans like you make everyone sick. You clearly were not a fan pre 2001.

Leave your peverted fantasies of Brady wearing your pink panties at the door, please. The board thanks you in advance. If Brady chokes it down on Sunday, you best be here.  You best be here. I'll be here and be calling you out with or without your pink, stained panties on your head.

You don't deserve this franchise, you disgusting pink hat scum.

NE's DEfense did nothing but give them the losses that the O couldn't overcome.

Why don't you try debating this with facts instead of childish insults.

Did you just ask if I was an adult as you sit there acting all offended with how a very young rebuilt base of a D performed bailing out Brady to put them in the AFC title game last year?

He as 5 INTs in his last two AFC title games at home. You're FIRST concern should be Brady, not this defense.

Don't look now, but you're out of time. No excuses for Brady now.

I'm not offended  in the least.  Fact is, that's not true.  The D bailed out no one but themselves after Brady scored the game winning drive.  Actually Billy Cundiff bailed them out.

I'm not as concerned as much about T/o's as I am poor DEFENSIVE play.

Can you prove this wrong?   Hint: opinions don't matter.  Facts please!

Umm, Spikes and Sterling Moore bailed Brady out. Fact.

You cannot bail out an Offense that has the lead going until the last 16 or 32 or 57 seconds,

The only one you can bail out is yourself by doing your job and not allowing your O to lose the lead that they worked so hard to get.

Sterlin Moore allowed the 23 yard pass that set up the last play.  FACT

Spikes got a pic which resulted in a possession change.  If not for that Flacco would have gleefully marched down the field AGAIN  (do doubt)

Flacco, gleefully marched down the field 4 times in the second half.

    Was That Brady's fault too?

    Do you know what a DPR is?   You obviously don't as you keep relating it to the NFL's passer rating system.  It's much more than that.  It includes ;

    Are you even an adult?

" The truth, we've discovered, is that defensive passer rating is almost always a better indicator of team-wide success than an individual quarterback's passer rating"

    CHFF Kerry Byrne.

You can still win with T/O's. Bad defensive play, (IE.. Bad DPR"S) can't be overcome.

It's proven!  A fact.  There is no better indicator of a teams worth than a DPR.

Can you prove this wrong?   Hint: opinions don't matter.  Facts please!

Here's another Hint, listing 2 games out of 19, where the D actually did their job (Both debateable although I will agree on the Dallas game), proves my point, not yours.

What about the other 18 games?  Huh?  Huh?  Huh?

So are you 12 or just some creepy dude with the mentality of a 12 YO?

Umm, Spikes and Sterling Moore bailed Brady out. Fact.

You cannot bail out an Offense that has the leadgoing until the last 16 or 32 or 57 seconds,

Gleefully?   Why was Benny benched at halftime in Favor if finesse running with Hernandez and Woodhead?

Brady runs this offense whether you want to admit it or not.  The offense lost momentum by going finesse.

You have to fight fire with fire. The game is on NFLN right now. It's almost time for Brady's god awful INT into triple coverage.

Brady does not send out the players.  He plays with what is given.  I told you Picks happen and you can overcome them.   The solution would be to get a turn over too or enough drives so to make it irrelevant.?  Did they do that?  NOPE!

Did they ever get a pick to win the game?  (once in the past 5 years)  Or did they allow last minute TD's to lose the games?  YUP .

.You can't over come a D that plays poorly throught the whole game, season, play-offs and SB, or last minute in all of the forementioned..

Nope!  It's never been done.  Not in a SB, against the toughest teams) any way.

If you have the math to prove it then I'd like to see it. Not saying you're wrong, because I don't know where they stand in history. But if you're going to make a claim like that then you should back it up.

I can tell you that the difference in passing yards per game in the NFL in 1995 for instance was 10.5 yards less per game than it was in 2012. That's 168 yards less on the season.

Subtracting 168 yards from our 2011 total doesn't even move us up one place in 2011 passing yardage rankings.

Subtracting that 168 from our 2nd worst ever 4703 leaves us with 4535. That barely beats out the #3 worst all-time '95 Falcons who had 4,541. Don't have all-time worst passing yards stats beyond the top 3 but I find it hard to believe 8 other teams had more than 4535.

Find the numbers and tell me if I'm off a bit, but I'm thinking if you go back a ways and correct for era that 2011 D still makes at least the top 10 worst passing yards list.

Why do you even come here? You behave like an infant. You obviously aren't intelligent enough to interact with people without resorting to 2nd grade tactics of name calling and you obviously think Brady sucks. You still go on & on about the same thing for YEARS! Like a broken record! It's unreal!

You've got about 5 people MAYBE who agree with you. You've been "bludgeoned" (your word) COUNTLESS times yet refuse to admit it. The Pats SMOKED Houston by PASSING TWICE AS MUCH AS THEY THREW IT LAST WEEK. A recipe for disaster in your book. FORTY passes (OH NO) The run game was an afterthought and still the Pats DESTROYED Houston even though our much improved D gave up a quick 10 points before the half and then 15 MORE in the 4th.

But Brady SVCKS right? And everyone who disagrees is a pink hat wearing ballwasher??? You are the most pathetic person on this board who THINKS he is the man. You aren't even a big fish in a little pond, you're a tadpole

Why don't you try your antics at a moderated board that can permanently ban you??? See how long you last. Or have you already and that's why you're here??? I've been going to patsfans dot com for awhile now and it's AMAZING. They aren't STILL arguing about the last 2 SB's and how awesome our defense performed in them. A REAL peaceful place. Good discussion without childish fighting

Go there a few times and then come back here. NIGHT & DAY.

I could care less what your opinion is of me. This is what little millenial dorks like you don't get.

Keep making excuses and avoiding reality. The reason why people like you have wet panties is because you know it's true.

We go as far as Brady wants, just like in 2001, 2003 and 2004.

Oh, you mean in those years when The Pats actually had a good DEFense?  Those years?

No, I mean pre Goodell years and pre offesive era.

NE had a good D in 2006 and 2007, too. What happened there for Brady? Hmm?  Ellis Hobbs set up his only TD drive in the second half of the 2006 AFC title game but he did nothing after that. Hmm.  It's now the 2012 season. Hmm.

Whoops. Looks like you just bashed BB again and made another excuse for Brady's preference in the shotgun spread to the detriment of the team. Oh well. You're good at that.

If Brady chokes it down now, good luck backpedaling out of it here.

How mant TD's did the 06 D blow to lose the lead?   How many in 2011?

    Here'a a hint: if your O scores 34 you can't allow 35.

How many ints did Asante have in 2007?  Hint:  All he needed was ONE.  The other 8 didn't matter.

Hint: the NE Patriots have had some of the worst  Defenses in the NFL for years.

What's a DPR, Rusty?  Can you explain it to me?

    Re: Flacco outperforms Brady... how?

    @Pez4Pats:

Just a question.  Given that people--even a lot around here--give the edge to the "hot" team in the playoffs, what's the Pats DPR recently?

You noted "Ne's this year until the last 4-5 games was also a 102+, They've brought it down to a (unrespectable) 92+. "

So, after about the 12th game of the season, the D has done a pretty good job lowering that DPR in just 4-5 games (OK, I realize that games against Jax and Miami probably really skew the results here), but what's the DPR over that 4-5 game stretch?

Shouldn't we be concerned with how they are playing now, rather than how they were playing in weeks 1-5?

    Just asking.
