    Re: Flutie Perspective On Tebow

I'm fine w/ the coaching staff giving Tebow a look. That being said, and the overall state of the team and team's priorities - if Tebow can't help the team this year, should the Patriots let him go or keep him as a project?

But if they cut him, they can just resign him later if they need to for whatever reason. He won't get picked up, nobody else wants him. Nobody else wants to accomodate the hullabaloo.

    That's pretty well established.

    Re: Flutie Perspective On Tebow

    Per Flutie...

"Flutie doesn’t believe for one minute we’ll see a position change. Tebow isn’t going to be a tight end. Or morph into an H-back. He’s going to be a quarterback.

“You don’t just step in at the NFL level, and learn to play tight end, or learn to play fullback, or H-back. I’m sure Tim can line up and run a few routes and catch the ball. And do that,” Flutie said. “But to play a tight end position, or a slot position, or H-back, there’s a lot that goes into that. You don’t just all of a sudden learn it."

Yeah, that's what I have been saying all along.

BTW, What does Brian Daboll bring to the Patriots?  He has been around the block and hasn't been very succesful.  Why is he working with Tebow?

It just depends on what value BB sees in the #53 scrub. How much that last 3rd stringer be worth compared to TT is the question. That's why I say TT has to be terrible to end up getting cut.

Of course you realize what will happen if he doesn't make the final cut? The media will have a field day comparing him to a handful of very doubtful NFL prospects that end up barely staying. I think by Kraft/BB/McD signing TT, it is basically his roster spot to lose. They would never have signed him if this wasn't the case.

    Babe

You make a lot of sense. Tebow is here for a reason. The 53rd spot being held by a QB makes sense simply because the QB position is the most important on the chess board and Tebow is an interesting chess piece to have in reserve for his proven leadershiip abilities. We don't know how he will develop over time but it is a worthwhile risk.

I would repectfully have to disagree. the 53 spots are precious and important for depth purposes.  carrying an extra RB, OL, DL, DE , LB, DB or possibly an extra wideout would allow for protection against injury to one of those spots and add needed depth on special teams. Carrying a 3rd QB who would most likely be inactive on game day seems counter intuitive to how  BB operates.

I would agree that he has shown leadership abilities. I just don't think that is enough to secure a roster spot. I have been wrong before and certainly will be wrong in the future but I just can't see any way he makes this team.

I think it's interesting that Daboll is spending a lot of one on one time with Tebow. Part of the dyslexia?

The whole beauty of carrying an impact guy like Edelman is to save that 3rd QB spot.

Bwahahahaha!!  Stop the madness!!  Just stop it!!

Are you really still talking about Edelman could be used as a #3?  He hasn't played 1 down in the NFL, ever.  Hasn't played 1 down as a QB since 2008.  You are nut's dude.  Just stop pretending you know more then others around here.  With statements like that you clearly don't!!

    I could be used as a #3.  I'll do it for $120K.

You are very incorrect. Those last few spots are garbage. Any team can pick guys off the street at anytime that are ostensibly as good as those last few spots.

Well then we can agree to disagree. My opinion that depth is more important than carrying a 3rd string QB that will offer nothing on game day is no more or less valid than your opinion.
