In addition, the Patriots claimed first-year WR Kerry Taylor.
Taylor, 23, was claimed off waivers and awarded to the patriots from Minnesota. He spent a week on the New England practice squad last season in September. The 6-foot, 196-pounder was originally signed by Green Bay as a rookie free agent on July 28, 2011 out of Arizona State. He was released by Green Bay on Sept. 3, 2011. In addition to spending time on the Patriots’ practice squad, Taylor also spent time on the practice squads of San Francisco and Minnesota last year. He was released by Minnesota on Aug. 25, 2012.(Patriots.com) -

According to my guy @TomPelissero, Taylor's a quick, slot guy who was on practice squad last year for Vikings. Not real productive in games

I can't see Taylor making the team. He's essentially Underwood/Davis/Ebert/input JAG here.Here's an idea think they are moving Hern to a full time WR and have both Fells and Schia as TE's?That would make sense given these moves -

I think we all assumed that between the WR's and TE's they would carry 9 players so would it be insane to believe those 9 will be:WR (5) - Welker, Lloyd, Branch, Edelman, SlaterTE (4) - Gronk, Hern, Fells, ShiaAlong with Demps and Vereen getting some slot reps carrying 5 RB's:Ridley, Vereen, Woodhead, Demps, Bolden/Kettani -

Nobody has mentioned Holley. Has he been cut and I just missed it? Or does he possibly make it? If he hasn't been cut, that says he has a realistic shot, no? -

Right. Hern is essentially a wide receiver although the team doesn't want to come out and say it.
Not sure about Woodhead. He's definitely on the fence.
I'd like to see Bolden over Kettani.
But keeping three true tight ends makes sense. -

I think it makes sense to let Gaff go,...The Patriots need younger players at the position that can develope under BB.
Hernandez could always play a switched position, I'm hoping we see more screen passes with Demp's the way the Giants with Simms and Morris.. that would burn the blitz packages and open the door for 15 yarders and more to Lloyd or Welker

Now they can use Hern as a WR and not worry about contract negotiations or franchise tags and what designation he would be assigned.
I like him at least as much as Gaffney strictly as a WR. -
