I agree but receivers are expensive and most of the elite draft prospects are gone before the Patriots finally pick. Plus the defense needs attention.

Look at the difference Boldin,Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones made to Flaco. From an average game managing QB to a Superbowl winning MVP QB.  Brady has had guys that are good in the clutch before but weren't big names. David Givens,Branch in his prime and guys like David Patten always produced in big moments. The high profile receivers Brady has now with the exception of Gronk who is proving himself to be injury prone all appear to be able to be knocked off their game and become gun shy.

On the offensive side  Brady needs to play better in the post season and we need recievers that catch the ball. Lloyd made some decent catches this year but had his share of drops. Welker makes a ton of catches but drops too many in crucial situations. The Ravens wideouts were coming up with anything that was close. We can win with who we have, if you include the tight ends this team has better recievers than some of the Super Bowl winning teams. Brady was at his best when he didn't have much talent around him. It looks like age has caught up with the future Hall of Fame quarterback.

I'd like to see them first add a couple of solid defensive players before improving the offense. They have some talented young players but need a couple more to become the shut down defense that can win games on their own, estecially if Talib doesn't sign. A hard hitting strong safety, a tough defensive tackle that gets after the quarterback, and a solid corner would make this defense elite imo.

The receivers they have are good but they appear to be easily knocked off their game. Like Marvin Harrison and co that the Colts had. Put up record numbers but when the going gets tough against a physical defense they start dropping the ball and peaking at the defense coming at them. Like Welker and Hernandez. Pats need some tougher receivers.

Once that receiver runs a wrong route or drops a pass, they're dead to him...so he throws to Gronk or Welker in triple coverage anyway, all but ignoring the open guy or checkdown (if there is even one anymore).

Ever notice how they had no problem "developing" younger WRs they drafted under Weiss, but they have struggled after Weis left and they went to a 60/40 pass first offense?

Galloway, Torry Holt and even Deion Branch (once he returned) all commented how hard it is to come in here with what Brady wants to do. Torry Holt might be a HOFer.

Part of the problem is Brady wanting to run this high octane spread formation that is much more than a hybrid west coast Weis ran.  

The only reason Moss was worked is because he was a freak and even a less than good pass from Brady could be gobbled up by the freakish Moss.
