Goodell

Does anyone think he's lightening up because he's trying to get the CBA deal done?
I find it strange a player is guilty of DUI and he doesn't get a suspension for even one game.
Ronnie Brown somehow has avoided legal proceedings in Miami, so that's slightly different, but this guy plead guilty to a DUI.
We all know Goodell has problems handing down a punishment to fit the crime, including Vick being allowed to come back to the NFL and him caving to media pressure for the Spygate witch hunt, but this should be a slam dunk minimum 1 game suspension.

Entirely possible. It would not surprise me in the least if the players want some clearer standards and guidelines in the new CBA. Goodell seems to have the power to make some very arbitrary and inconsistent calls right now. To make matters worse, he even handles the appeal. I would think that the players would at least want appeals to be handled by an arbitrator.I'm going to enjoy this season, because there is no way there is not a lengthy lockout next year. Maybe the season will start on time, but the offseason is going to be one long s o b. The Dungy, religion, politics, and Brady/Manning comparison threads will be unbearable. -

Did you want me to edit it so you can focus on the crux of the point, Corky?
Goodell has been completely inconsistent with the barometers for punishment of certain violations of NFL policy.
That's my premise.
Agree or disagree?
I find it very strange that a DUI conviction goes off scott free. My theory is Maleuga went to rehab, so they feel that is punishment enough. A person's addiciton problem has NOTHING TO DO WITH BREAKING THE LAW.
Goodell is as inconsistent as Mark Sanchez. -

Are you serious? I put it in there because it's one of a handful of head scratching examples of Goodell's explanation to the punishment.
This decision does not seem to be an issue?
It's a DUI. Leonard Little, Stallworth, etc, have KILLED people with these.
I just think this is more serious in terms of a punishment than some of the other stuff he focuses on. He's all over the map. -

PR, they just can't let it go. A personal friend of mine was a Pats' offensive scout back then. I asked him if there was any veracity to the accusations being made. Had no response. Mums the word. I don't give two rats azz about Spygate and I'm not even a fan of the Pats, knowing that that was probably widespread through the league. There had to be more to it than what was led to believe. Why would Goodell's office destroy tapes or transcripts? The severity of BB's transgression makes me wonder. Something stinks about all of this.
