great game by lloyd ( and mcd)

As discussed in Welker addiction thread... This was  the answer.  Get balls to Lloyd...check.  Run ball even if you only get 2 yards ... Check.

Imminent victory.... Check. 42-7 . Now lets see mallett.

I felt coming into this game that Lloyd needed to step up and that the Pats needed to utilize him. If he can keep it up form here, the Pats get Gronk back and Welker and Hernandez doing what they've been doing, the Pats could finally have all their weapons clicking in the postseason.

Welker had a few drops I hope Lloyd becomes a good alternative.

Absolutely.  That might have been my favorite play of the year.

The guy is doing well for the most part every week (I really don't know why he gets slammed so much). Very good game - be interesting to see what this offense looks like with a healthy Mankins and Gronk. Throw in some Bolden too when Ridley struggles.

If the defense plays like this every game (and continues to get better) we won't have to worry about our offense putting up 35 plus points a game anymore.

And he deserves credit for his great hands too, securing that onside kick last week and securing Woodhead's fumble in the end zone.

Do you think the use of Slater and Stallworth helped Lloyd?  They used more deep-style receivers this game then we've seen in a while.  Slater was used at receiver a surprising number of times.  Want to re-watch the game to better understand what they were doing with Slater.

Lloyd was Lloyd. Same as he has been all year. Nothing great, solid, dependable. Worked hard to maintain his blocks, catches what he gets his hands on. certainly not fast or elusive, he needs 3-4 steps on a defender to score.

Never thought Brady lost confidence in him.

It wasn't a great game by him per se, it was Wade Philips' game plan. For the first time all season, a DC finally put the coverage on Wes instead of Lloyd.

Welker has been getting the benefit of DCs trying to take Lloyd out of the game and drawing coverage around him which gives Welker more room down the middle and the RBs more space to work with too.

Wade Philips wanted to crowd the middle and take away the running game and Wes, he suceeded in that, for the most part, but Lloyd needs to be respected.

"Becomes"? Oh please. He has 57 catches (second most) on a team with Welker, Hernandez, Gronk (who while out right now has 53), had Edelman, had Branch and has completed over 40 passes to their RBs. He has dropped a few but made a bunch of amazing catches.

He does need to "become" anything. He is a threat and often draws the best CB on opposing teams.

I don't think it's that simple.  Lloyd played great and mcd designed plays for him...  He was Brady's first option.

Did you see that stretch run play action...?  That was brilliant since the entire pass rush was washed down the line ... Brady had all day to let the patterns develop.

That was a new play.  Exactly what we were talking about last week.
