Have the Pats gone too cheap on D.

Do people think that BB and possibly Kraft have gone too cheap on D? They haven't for a few years wanted to pay anyone anywhere near what other teams will pay players on the defensive side of the ball. It looks like BB thought that just because the Pats have Brady,Moss and Welker that they can outscore anyone - it is also apparent that BB has little faith(rightly so) in the D with all the going for it on 4th and 1 and 4th and 2. I find it very strange that coach who has been a defensive genius could end up with such a poor bunch. He surely must know that defense has won more championships than an air it out high powered offense. The Seymour trade is very strange considering they had lost Brucshi,Vrable and Harrison in the offseason and Brady was coming back off a major injury and there was always the possibility of him struggling particularly early on. You would have thought BB would have wanted some veteran leadership on the D this year until Brady was back to his best just in case the Offense struggled.

Not sure if it's being cheap or just very poor talent evaluation going on.

The Pats I believe are about 4 to 5 million under the cap. That's not that much. I think they like to spread the money and share the wealth around the team much like
our current president. We don't have a lot of impact Players on this defense and 5 million doesn't buy much so we're overpaying somebody and not paying any of the defenders when contract time comes up.

It's just not a fact.  The Pats are one of the top spenders every year, this year included.

They need better talent on D.  The truth is even though people say they need to pay thier stars they need to do the opposite.  Because they finish high every year they don't get premium draft picks.  They have paid big money to Thomas, Seymour, Light, etc.  A lot of those guys aren't worth the money after they get paid.  They need to lose them and get young low draft picks.  It's not that easy though people don't give up top 10 spots for nothing.  That's why they jumped on the Seymour deal.

Poor talent evaluation, diminishing coaching ability to "coach up" and other teams no longer fearing the Pats = decline.
The Seymour trade was one of those rare deals that was bad for both teams.
