In response to murghkhor's comment:
I thought it was pretty clear that Gronk has been asked to do a lot more blocking duties instead of route running in order to help shore up a suspect OL. And by and large it has worked but it's meant that Gronk's passing numbers are down.
Gronk is still in on every snap, he's just blocking a LOT more. We also ran a lot more in first 5 games where again, he's obviously blocking. I mean Brady's passsing numbers for first 5 games were WAY down from last year due to a balanced offense so ofcourse all receiver's numbers will be down.
Also the Pats, I believe, have the most amount of TDs by rushing. So although we are the highest scoring offense in the league, we did a ton more rushing TDs than passing. IMO if you can reliably punch it in by rushing it's much better/safer than passing on the 2 yard line.
So basically, blocking more on pass plays to help shore up OL, less pass plays in general and more balance so less pass yards for him and everyone, and more rushing TDs so less TDs for him.
I don't think Gronk's play level has fallen at all. Last year we leaned heavily on him and Hernandez to the point where Brady threw that horrible pass in the SB to a hobbling Gronk that was intercepted. I would rather he be used more judiciously.
+1, do people even watch the games? IMO Gronk is having a better year this year then he did last year. Who cares about the fantasy numbers, he has become the best all around TE in the league. Name me 1 other TE that's averaging 5recs, 60yds, .5 TD's a game and is a vital aspect of the blocking game keeping Brady upright while producing a top 10 running game. He is by far and away living up to his contract so far
