I count four.three on offense, and one on defense.Brady, moss, and welker, and merriweather.thats it.this is what the team needs.how they get them remains to be seen.free agency.the draft,or players on the team stepping up there game.until this happens the pats will have a good team that will compete, but not a great team that can finish. -

In Response to Re: how many impact players do the patriots have on the team?:You gotta throw Merriweather in there too. Had five picks last year I believe. Also missed a lot of tackles for big gains. Either way his play definitely impacts the outcome of each game. Positive or negative. You did not specify what impact you were looking for. We do have a lot of could be's, in Edelman, Mayo, Butler, Tate, Wright, Pryor and Chung. Also I would like to throw Vollmer's name in the mix. Obviously not putting up flashy numbers and stats or whatever, but if he continues to progress the way everybody seems to think he can he will allow the Welkers, Tates, and Edelmans to be the impact players we need.thats what im saying.players that need to step up there game,or get better, but yes i did forget about merriweather.i will edit that.i dont count tackles unless they are for no gain,or for a loss.tackles are technical.we can say if a player dosent tackle there would be td,s scored.but we could sayhow many yards were gained before the tackles.

Not to mention our defensive MVP; Mr. fork. Not exactly a glamor position but we'd be lucky to win 5 games next year without him. -

By all accounts the defense was old and slow. The rebuilding process has started. In 2007, 3 or 4 of the offensive linemen were pro-bowlers. Now their time has passed.
The Pats are rebuilding. It needs more than a quick fix. Hopefully, more impact players will develop. -

Not to mention Pierre Woods...Offenses gameplan around that guy as if Jesus were allowed to take the field with a mounted laser howitzer and riding on thundercat. -

"Laz, you are the weirdest dude on here man."
LOL...Was it the He-Man reference here, the apple-core birthday cake with shaving gel frosting on the other thread, or was it Roethlisberger's syphallis-cells and herpes-spots outbreak reference? None of these things are really out of the ordinary routine of my daily routine, so I'm somewhat confused... -

Funny Pats may not have a lot of impact players but other teams do and have not done as well over the past 10 years.
So is it about having 4 or 5 impact players who may or may not make an impact or is it more about having all the right players in the right positions as well as back ups who can do the job consistently.
BTW an impact player who is not cositently doing his job consistently is useless. -

See Maritime, I'M like He-Man (all but the insanely "flaming" gay aspect): Yup, I'm Just your average muscle-bound guy with a bowl-haircut working as a journalist at the Daily Planet of Eternia by day. At night, I wield my power-sword and turn into a gigilo in a loin-cloth (but again, I really feel the need to RE-emphasize the "ladies-man" difference of me and that cartoon ripoff they fictionally based my real life on without any monetary commission). Noone notices me as the "real" He-Man by day because I put on a ripped short sleeve muscle-shirt and some tight brown leather slacks with moon boots and call myself "Prince Adam", which does the trick (and I'm "straight"). And no, I don't even bother with nerd-spectacles, because I seal the deal by talking in a somewhat more whiney voice. Eternia is pretty much a stone-age planet of imbec!les, and so they've never even guessed (not even Lois or Jimmy at the NewsPaper)... Anyway, I have just an ordinary & pretty lax cat, but with one zap of my magic-flaming sword-(and yet again emphasizing the "straight" aspect)- AND She turns into a fearsome predator Super-Cat...kinda a cross between a lion, and a tiger, but bigger and painted green-oh, and I put a horse's saddle on her back just for sh!ts and giggles. So, yup-I battle the embodiment of pure evil (when I'm not dancing for 50 cent tips at a ladies club and slugging down the water-downed remains of Alabama Slammers they leave in their plastic cups, Just so I can deal with my failed life)- BUT, so yea-the bad guy's name is Skeletor and he sure is bad I tell ya! Doesn't even have a face, because well...idk, the cartoon designer was hung over during that creative process (but in my "real" case, his mom's mom didn't have a face so he got the recessive gene, a tough break that sealed his evil fate). To further relate Skeletor's terrible god-awful "evilness", He's got a low raspy voice. That's ummm, about all...pretty scary huh? Skeletor has a seemingly unending slew of sidekicks, one is actually named "Stinkor". Yea, as the overtly metaphoric aspect was hard at work once again in my life's sad tale, yes- Stinkor actually stinks. So Skeletor tries to take over the world seemingly every freakin' day, and messes with my chick- who fancies herself a hippie by her feather headress, but really she's just rebelling against her rich parents because they gave her an audi for X-Mas instead of the jag she wanted...and man, They hate me. Chr!st, I mean HOW many times do I have to save Eternia from destruction before I get invited over for Shake n' Bake for God's sake. Sorry 'bout that-With me as always is my trusted sidekick named Orko who's something between an infant, a skunk and a ghost...oh, he has a hooded cape too and gleaming white eyeballs. Yea, that makes sense. I get some help from my best bud named "Man" middle name "At" and last name "Arms"...and so I just call him Duncan obviously. He's got a porn mustache he's had since 1973- Personally I think he's just hangin' around to try to nail my wild hippie-broad is all. It's the only way I can explain away that gaudy freak 'stache of his. I mean his lip-helmet might as well by sidekick #3...sorry, it's just every time he talks I see my future fate goin' down a gas statioon urinal; That Leif Erikson mustache moves as some sort of seperate possessed entity in and of itself...uggh, I hate this life. But yea, I ripoff 20 year old editorials by day and still manage to get underpaid, THEN I lose my dignity working for ashtray-bourbon splashes during dusk, and at night I get no credit when me and my no-help r^tards battle Skeletor and his infinite gang of misfits. Why noone ever gets killed or even hurt really is somewhat beyond me...But I tell ya, something's gotta give way here because I'm freakin' exhausted and Lady Ga-ga has been holdin' out.
And you think I'm weird? -

I agree 100% with the 4 you chose. Not enough playmakers on D, by any stretch of the imagination - Bruschi, McGinnis, Seymour, Vrabel and Harrison = we were stacked at one point; I'm starting to think it was the players not the system. -
