You do mean Stephen Gotskowski on special teams right?  I don't think Steve Neal is a Kicker lol.  That lineup looks great, and I wouldn't count Taylor Price and Brandon Tate out either.

Haha I thought I had put down Gostkowski instead. It's fixed now.

    A lot of question marks.

Just by playing the numbers game I have to think that this'll be a decent lineup, but how good it is depends on how well the Pats drafted and how well the new guys are progressing in the system

Re: How pumped does this lineup make you feel?

I think that's definately the core, the interesting piece will come with who fills the other 16 slots on the 53 man roster:

    Brian Hoyer
    BJGE - Law Firm
    Burgess
    Tate
    Price
    Arrington

(I would put down as definates)

    Crable

(definate if fit through mini camp and pre season)

That leaves us with nine spots for DL (no love for our free agent pick ups?) / OL back-ups and Special teams specialists (i.e. no Aiken (captain) / Slater (oft mentioned speed demon on Sp. T).....and that's even without considering whether we would carry 3 QB's this year?

I reckon it will be the back up slots where some serious cuts and surprising waivers will occur - i.e. Brace isn't in your or my list above!!

......but coming back to your general post, yeah, am stoked about the team and the talent, save that question marks exist as to DL / OLB / TE (two rookies, exciting as they are still need to prove it).......but on paper looks good enough.....

The roster looks like a non playoff team. Too much youth and too much relying on inexperienced personel. Could this be a playoff team in the next couple of years? Yes. But this year too many questions, mostly with the defensive front 7 and the RB's.  Not too mention question marks at O-cord.

So the lack of continuity concerns you? Fair enough. But I think you're dead wrong in thinking this Patriots lineup isn't of playoff caliber.

Fair point re: O-Coordinator - totally agree that question marks remain there, as everyone is hoping / praying for a McDaniels-esque second season spike with Billy's playcalling.

Have to call you out on the youth point though - for ages we've been hearing the Patriots are too old, now being young is the problem?? For my part, I'm optimistic that the youth is sprinkled around sufficiently, so that no one area (save for TE, which in Patriots normal schemes could be classified as reasonably non-essential), is over reliant on a rookie / young player, also bear in mind that our projected starting line-ups (albeit months away) would still put us as one of the oldest teams / line-ups in the NFL (swayed quite a bit I grant you by Brady, Moss and Geriatric Backs) ..........although as I type this, I think of my earlier post and think of OLB where we might have to rely on Cunningham / Crable (basically a rookie) to fill second slot.........ok you may have a point in that context......did I just talk myself out of my own argument.......damn.......

Lastly though, I still see this team making the playoffs.

Re: How pumped does this lineup make you feel?

looking at the 53 man roster I made up a few weeks ago I think this is a playoff team. Question is how many of the question marks we have turn out to be ok. If we get at least 50% then your looking at no worse then 9-7, no better then 12-4. I think 11-5 is a legitimate goal.
