I wonder why the Globe over looked Tony Romeo as a Pats Tight end?

I'm not saying he was the best, but I think he deserved to be listed and he was better than some on the list.

I had not heard of him until now but you're right, he deserved to be listed. He played 6 years for the Patriots in the early 60s and was one of Babe Parilli's favorite targets. He had 110 receptions for 1724 yards and 10 TDs with the Patriots.

Jim Whalen, 5 years w/Patriots, 153 rec 2487 yds. Never heard of him either! Looks like he took Romeo's job.

Apparantly the Globe overlooked the sixties.

Digger thanks for stats when I was a kid he was one of my favorite Pats. He might have become a minister after being a very good TE. He was a strong Christian who would talk about his faith. Maybe that's why the Globe KO'd him. He was not as demonstative as Tebow. But Boston and the Globe certianly knew about his Christian faith. I wouldn't be surprised if he was all pro AFL some years.

I did a little more searching on Tony. He once held the pass catching record for tightends, in one game 10 catches for 149 yds when he was a Pat. He also played a couple years for the Texans. At FSU he was a 2 way player and was one of the best defensive ends in the country.

He was the first player to ever catch a pass from Tom Brady, a 6 yard reception on Thanksgiving Day 2000 at the Detroit Lions.
