If he really wanted to send a message

Take down the championship banners and put them somewhere in the Patriots Hall of Fame or in storage.

Show them that they have to EARN their own and that they can't think that merely playing for the Patriots will improve their chances of winning a Super Bowl.

Championships aren't awarded on individual merit.

They're not awarded for a franchise's past accomplishments.

    Championships are earned.

You could also say that a player can look up at those banners and take great pride in the next play and the one after. Players can also run onto the field, see those banners and be fortunate to be a part of the Patriots mystique and thus perform better.

They seem to assume that, because those banners are hanging there, they'll automatically win one of their own.

I'd take them down.  I think the message would be clear.

Its funny you say that because thats how most of us Pats fans think.  We have a sense of entitlement.  We think that since the Pats have won 3SB's that we should be there every year.
