If we have a defense like 49ers...

If the Pats has a defense like a 49ers, they will have more rings with Tom Brady as QB.  Time to upgrade the defense and WRs.
    Go Pats....

Niners D gave up more points to the Giants than the Patriots D.  The Patriots offense needs to score more than 17 points to win.

I see what you're trying to do, cuz of the safety meaning only 19 points allowed BUT the Giants went for 2 late, so really the Pats gave up 20 and they were all in regulation, the 49ers only gave up 17 in regulation.

To the overall point, yeah and if the 49ers had the Pats offense wouldn't they be special.  You can't just look at other elite units around the league and say "why can't we have a defense like that".  Not everyone can have an elite defense, it is a contradiction in terms.

Be great but we wouldn't have much of an offense. That defense will take a lion's share of cap space. That's why you have Alex Smith at QB.

The days of a Brady Offense and a 49'er D on the same team ended with the salary cap era.
