Welker was a nonfactor other than his hit on Talib.  The Broncos didn't win because of Wes and we wouldn't have won if we had him with the way the team played today.

Hard to say, I think it would have been a different season had Welker played here the whole season.  Him and Edelman would have been a great combo together.  This game could possibly have been played in NE if Welker was still on the team.  He didn't do much for Denver today, only 4-38 but he made a couple key catches for them where Amendola was invisible and dropped a key catch.

With TFB on this. It's really hard to say, but 2 of the loses came with a difference of 1 score and the team went a combined 2 for 24 on 3rd downs. Add in Welker and this team might be 1 win better, which would put the AFCCG in NE. Then Talib might not get hurt and suddenly the D starts to look better. Even though he didn't do much today what he did was much better than what Amendola gave. So, in the end would they have won, not sure maybe. Would they have had a better chance, most certainly. Letting Welker go over Amendola bite BB in the butt and it's about to do it again as Edelman will start with Amendola's contract and the Pats won't resign him to that.

Exactly, our WRs weren't the problem. They got open...except Amendola, it was our OL and Thomas taking advantage of Dennard. Did Welker even make a catch?

No he never made much of a difference in these big games before. But he would have contributed more than invisible Danny. Atrocious buy he was.

    LOL!

At least he contributed with something in most of the playoff games.  He had a great recent playoffs in 2012 with the Pats...

Welker vs the Ravens 2012 in the AFCC had 117 yards, 1 td.

Welker vs the Texans 2012 playoff game had 131 yards.

On the other hand Amendola had nothing today in the biggest game of his career.

No, unless he was going to pull a Troy Brown and play defense!

His only true impact in this game was taking out talib.

NO! As much as liked WW, after his Bernard Pollard impersonation I hope he gets killed in the Seattle game. Also I never want to see him in New England as a football player again. Say what you will about Amendola who couldn't be found on a milk carton, but at least he wasn't taking cheapshots on defenders! WW was all about apologies at the end of the game and so deep in denial, that I wanted to fly to denver and take him out myself, he did the one thing you never want to see in sports by players who you liked, the intentional cheapshot. The only way  Demaryius Thomas would have gotten open was via the play by Welker, he had 0 catches up to that point.

Agree that was a cheap -shot and illegal pick. This team had more against them than an undersized over the hill slot receiver could fix.

Re: If Welker stays on team, could this team have a chance to win today?

Not sure that Welker would've made much of a difference, because our o-line got man handled. In the end the better team won. Our offense couldn't sustain drives, abandoned run to early and didn't show up until it was too late and Denver was playing prevent....Our Defense couldn't get off the field after Talib went down and never were able to get any real pressure on Manning. The Bronco won this game in the trenches on both sides of the ball...

In the end, this team simply lacked impact players given the injuries to Wilfork, Mayo & Kelly, on defense and then losing Gronk along with the saga that was and is Henandez our offense also lacked impact players...That we were even in the Championship game was an accomplishment worth noting...Add to that Spikes going down and then losing Talib in the first half we simply didn't have enough weapons on defense or on offense to go into Denver and beat them.

Fear not, they'll be right back in the mix next year...Go Seahawks!

Agreed, they were soundly out played on both sides of the ball.

    - Mcdaniels coached and called a terrible game.

    - The D was passive and couldn't control the LOS

    - Execution on 3rd downs and pivotal plays was lacking

As you said... Denver was the better team.

Anybody who is thinking this team was a Welker away from beating the donkeys in donkeyland needs to have all sharp objects taken away.
