contrarian already sees the scenario coming up. peyton is due $30m  before next season. i just dont see the colts going down that route anymore. this train has left the station, they will try to trade him but no team would want to pay that 30m ransom. once cut, he will have a shot with anyone. so let's see who may interested shall we. no doubt the jets will be at the top of that list.

no way peyton wants to play for a rebuilding or nfc team or in any system he could not be himself. lf. so that eliminates a lot of suitors. manning with a ticked-off ryan after thhe jets do not make this year's playoffs would be a great dynamic duo. imagine how great the jets would have been the past few years if they had a manning. no doubt they would have at least one ring. imagine how much better that defense would be with a peyton out there. heck, the guy is hands-down this year's mvp just for how badly exposed the colts "defense" have been. the AFC east would certainly be more interesting and competitive! brother versus brother, manning vs manning, NY would and the nfl would loveee this!

If peyton manning can play and is cut, (he won't be traded unless his deal is reworked as a part of the move), he won't go to the Jets (my opinion).

The manning family is VERY tight and I don't see Peyton, accepting a job in the same market in which his brother plays where the media can play the two off each other to the public's delight and the family's consternation.

For that same reason, I could not see Peyton going to an NFC East team either.

LOL at Manning signing with the Jets next season.  No way Rex Ryan eats crow and gets rid of Sancheeze as the starter.  Didnt Rex say Sancheeze will be the starter for as long as he (Rex) is there?  Which is the very reason Rex Ryan will never win a super bowl.

Also, Manning is done!  Stick a big ol fork in him!  The Colts at the very best would have been a 9-8 team this year had Manning played.  Their record probably would have been more like 8-9, 7-10 with Manning playing this season.  They are old, their coaching is horrible.

    Dumb thread is dumb!

    (1) When did the season get expanded to 17 games?  I thought that idea was defeated.  (PS:  I know it is 16 games).
    (2) A healthy Manning is a very dangerous QB.  He could still be very productive for another few years.
    (3) If he were to sign with the Jets, it would be one hell of a battle for the division title.
    (4) Put him on a team with a decent defense and you have a playoff team.

Is he better than Brady now or ever? Yes, for the first year or two that Brady was in the league.  Not since then.  Is he still an excellent, HOF QB?  If healthy, then absolutely.

Peyton Manning is done, IMO. The NFL should have a rule of Medical opinion established to deny anyone from playing. Other occupations do it. A protective brace will do him no good.

In My business there are times when one must deliver the bad news to a Pilot that he is grounded for life. A Pilot with the same or similar condition as Manning would be disqualified and denied. Keeping in mind that the pilot is in a sitting position subject to G-Forces let alone slighter forces as pitch, roll and yaw at various degrees of frequency. Just delivering that type of news to someone who loves what they do for a living is not a good feeling.

I can now imagine that Peyton just bending over to tie his shoes is feeling discomfort. Compare that to a job description that allows 300lb angry men to physically attack his body at concussion force? It's a no brainer. No takers.

Sorry to say as I'll miss his excellence. But, Peyton is grounded! Adios, Au revoir, Auf weidersehen, Ciao!

Have a good night/day all wherever you are...Smile

CC, I will bet you all the money you have in the bank that Peyton will never go to the Jets. To borrow one of your fun lines, let me tell you what my "sources" tell me about why this would never happen:

    - Peyton and Tom are friends. Peyton would not willingly go in the same division as Tom unless it was his only option.

    - Peyton would not try to take some of Eli's spotlight in NYC. Family is tight.

    - Peyton would never go into the same division as either Brady, Rodgers or Brees. Why would he when you have to go against those guys twice and the fight for the playoffs is instantly tougher. There are other divisions to choose from.

Manning may or may not be done, there's still a very good chance he will stay with Indy as well.

Whatever happens he will not sign with the Jets, as interesting as that would be.

Peyton with an elite defense (San Fran) wins a SB title, same with Tom and Drew Brees.

and yet he's paid no more than your QB.  Distributive property says that Tom Brady must be a wh*re, too.  Remember last year 2 years ago when brady's camp engaged the media to demand his contract and top pay?

And yet TB is on the field and actually earning his salary. Peyton used the lockout to hold the Colts hostage, they could not get accurate medical information about him or maybe they could have made a more informed decision and brought in a different quarterback for this season. He then signed the contract knowing full well there was a good chance he would not be playing this season, you can spin that any way you want, but he knew. Associative property says Manning is a ???

The Jets could win with Sancheze at QB. Their problem is the OL and their defensive front seven are getting old and they have no depth....... The Jets spent their future by signing all those expensive free agents.. Bring in a new QB, even a Payton Maning will not save them from being also rans.

Honestly, I don't think Manning did anything wrong, or unethical in his negotiations.  The Colts had already placed the franchise tag on him prior to the lockout, so they were on the hook for a huge salary anyway for this season.  The Colts are protected from the remainder of his contract by the option bonus after this season.  They got an elite player locked up if he continued to perform, without significantly increasing their 2011 liability.  Obviously Manning hasn't continued to contribute, but the Colts have a way out of the deal.

Also, the Colts were trying to bring in another QB for 2011, but no one wanted to go to Indy with Manning there.  They were trying to sign Hassleback who had no interest because he didn't think he'd get playing time.

Peyton will never play again, injuries are too severe and risk of re-injury is too much (loss of mobility or even death)
