No way we only carry 3 TEs.  Wouldn't surprise me if we carried 4 RBs so we could carry an extra TE.  Or maybe one less safety.

Agree with pcmIV re: TEs; respectfully disagree with rkarp on A. Wilson. I just can't see this guy getting cut unless he truly doesn't have much left.  Otherwise I think that's a pretty fair projection at this point.  May see a few additions once other teams make their cuts.

    Just my view.

I don't see Adrian Wilson getting the ax. Maybe he quits if his heart isn't in it, but for me it's Gregory who goes.

Also, put Sudfield in the mix at TE. A 6'7" target with good hands.

And some WR will get redshirted with a mystery hamstring, Boyce or Moe would be my guess.

Re: interesting look at roster projections

    Not bad.

i have Blount over bolden if Blount can keep his mouth shut and hands to himself

i also like Moe over Jones. Moe to me is a better version of Edelman, plays slot and Y, and has st value as a return man.

stevie b at lb is a good pick. He is a tackling machine, and should be able to supplant fletcher and tarpinian. He was great value in round 7.

i could also see bb going with 4 safeties...cutting both ebner and Gregory, give more time to Harmon who I think is going to impress people. Twiilson has a good year 2, and mccourty as well playing safety. Awilson sticks.

and agree in the TEs...no,way bb keeps 3...hooman sticks I think.

I expect 4 TEs.  I also expect a veteran WR to be added. So, if I'm right 2 more would be dropped or moved to the practice squad.  I think Boyce will end up on the PS.  And, I think Blount could be dropped if he doesn't have a good camp/preseason.

Re: interesting look at roster projections

Interesting though I think we will carry 4 TE's (given Hern and Gronk get injured and we run a 2 TE set). To get that  think we only carry 4 RB's (Blount or Bolden but not both). I also think Moe makes the team. Either because Jones can't cut it or we only carry 3 T's. McDonald, Connolly, and Cannon being flex players allows the team to only carry 3 Ts, 3Gs, and 2Cs and still have good depth. Imo Zusevics goes on PS o he replaces McDonald but I don't see that given McDonald can also play C. I also suspect Ebner might make it over Gregory. It's saves on cap space and BB loves to have a ST guy in the secondary. If you cut Cole Ebner becomes that guy

Re: interesting look at roster projections

Good post, rkarp.  It's always exciting projecting the final roster although a ton of personnel decisions will be made between now and August.

I agree with the majority of your list but like pcm stated, I don't think we only carry 3 tight ends, especially because I believe Hern will be playing more slot this season.   We either pick one up during camp cuts or we keep Fells.

Disagree on the Dane Fletcher cut.  BB loves versatility, especially from his LB core, and Dane's high IQ will help keep him on the team.  Obviously it depends where he's at physically, but if he can 100% recover from his injury, I think he makes the team.

Lastly, I can see TJ Moe being a surprise roster spot.  I don't know whose spot he takes, though.  It's hard to see BB cutting Edelman because he offers so much versaility on special teams and being the back up slot, but if Moe impresses in camp, Julian could be looking at his last days in NE.

You should bump this thread in August to see how accurate this rather premature prediction is.

Also, I don't see BB keeping both Blount and Bolden.  I think the fact that we just invested a draft pick in Blount, he is the favorite to get that last RB spot.

I don't know if the substance suspension put Bolden in BB's doghouse, but he wasn't even used when he came back off his suspension.  It's too bad because I really like what he brought to the run game.

Let's just hope Blount doesn't cause any fights in camp.  I'm rooting for him.

What happens if they pick up Abraham?

Then probably either Love or Deaderick are gone.

No way imo. BB isn't going to replace a 300 lb DT with Abe. More likely Bequette, Francis or Buchanan gets the axe.

Yeah, you're probably right in that it would thin out the DL a little bit but I just think Love and Deaderick are redundant.  I know they're good depth guys but I see Kelly being huge here which makes Deaderick/Love expendable.  It all depends on if BB is going to go more 3-4 or 4-3.

I don't want to cut either Bequette, Francis or Buchanan because they're young and have a good amount of upside, IMO.

I guess we'll see how it plays out.

Nice thread, some pretty good analysis considering how far away from camp we are...wouldn't be surprised if it shakes down a lot like this.

Re: interesting look at roster projections

I am not sure Washington is a lock either - I think both he and Blount have to really perform in camp better than others. A couple of the new guys may get a shot at KR/PR and if the are in the same league with Leon, the they offer more elsewhere. And if the first 6 games Bolden is present in camp it will be hard to cut him.

4 TEs minimum. And Hoom may see more time as a hybrid TE/FB to justify his sticking.

LBs - some wiggle room here with Fletch/Tarp - both good team guys - tough to cut both.

Safety - tough choices all around.

    WR - same thing.

PS - it will be very hard to get any of these guys to the PS, more likely an injury if they really want to keep them in the system.

Before i start projecting rosters I would like to see at least one practice or preseason game! I'm sure BB isn't about to just start cutting guys before even lookng at them. Donald Jones is an accomplished receiver and so is Michael Jenkins, Hooman and Fells both have a season in a Patriots uniform. Whoever makes this team will earn his spot and I doubt there are many who think their jobs are etched in stone ! TB,The Fork,Mayo,McCourty, maybe every member of the Oline, Amendola,A. Wilson. After that it is a war! I'm not sure that Mesko is going to out kick Allen for the job. The indivigual battles will be everywheres.

I seriously was going to compliment him on his first non trollish infused post in over 2 months, but then he dropped in the "BB cuts Adrian Wilson" statement and I am not only speecheless, but it's seriously one of the sneakier posts he's put forth here because of how good the rest of the logic was elsewhere in the anaylsis, even if obvious analysis.

You simply have to watch the sneakiness of these trolls. It can be one word or even a short phrase they try to sneak in there.

I disrespectfully disagree with RKrap on Adrian Wilson and call his post absolute troll work once again.

Dude, Mesko is literally the 2nd best punter in the AFC behind Shane Lechler.  Don't read into the way BB creates camp competition.

Mesko is a fine punter and as you suggest he's one of the best, now go look and see who won the Ray Guy award for being the best Punter in College football for the last two seasons
surprise Ryan Allen is the name you'll find that award. Though Zoltan did make the Ray Guy watchlist 3 times he never won it. I do realize that Zoiltan is a regarded member of the Patriots kicking game but this the first time BB has brought any competition for him to measure himself by. Maybe just maybe BB is preparing for Zoltan asking for the moon after the season, when he'll become a FA.
