Is Belichick at fault for not being more aggressive in getting a Michael Vick or another worthy backup for Brady? POLL

With the unceremonious cutting of Kevin O'Connell, it just got me thinking why would our great genius, Belichick, not have been more aggressive in bringing a michael vick to foxboro? we are once again in a tenuous position. last year, we got lucky with cassell. how often is that going to happen? i for one will start the season with the logical assumption that brady will miss a couple of games in mcnabb fashion this year. A Michael Vick is a metaphor. it doesnt necessarily have to be him; jeff garcia, for example, would have sufficed. even a chris simms or bryan leftwich. there were any number of proven or upside guys, young and old, who would have been proud to learn at the feet of the master while being mentored by brady.  For Belichick, backup QB is slowly morphing into his Theo Epstein's shortstop dilemma!

I think that vick wouldnt have fit the Pats offense, he is a scrambling quarterback who's arm isnt that great, thats why BB didnt go after him

Vick was definitely not the answer for this team at backup. I can't believe you would actually believe he would offer anything to this team as a leader of an offense; which is what he would need to be. He has never been anything more than a great scrambler and that was three years ago when he played last.

Re: Is Belichick at fault for not being more aggressive in getting a Michael Vick to backup Brady? POLL

I really don't know how anyone could think Vick would make a reliable #2 at this stage in his comeback.  Could he be a trick play guy, yes.  Could he be a wildcat guy, yes.  Could he play 4 quarters as a regular QB in our system at this point?  Probably not.

There were other decent QB's out there to be had though.  Leftwich comes to mind.  What none of us know though, is if any of the better vets that were available would have settled for having no chance to compete for the starting role.  I don't think we can just assume they would have, and that might be why they weren't added.

I'd rather bring back Grogan than play Vick anyway.

Eldemen has played quarterback in college, he could/might be an option for one of the backup QB/WR roles.

But to address the original question, BB definitely should have took a harder look at acquiring Mike Vick. He is a dynamic player who gives you options on offense. A trait not many players have not to mention at the QB position. As a team you want the best possible player at every position and MV was the best possible back up QB at the time before signing with the Eagles. Whether he can fit into the offense is yet to be known, players can evolve/adapt their game if you give them an opportunity.

Are people still squauking about Vick??? I thought we had laid that to rest a long time ago! There was even a "poll" thread, and it went 80-20 AGAINST Vick being considered. A lot of people (myself included) are against the guy being in the league at all. But all the arguments were made, and most agreed Vick would not fit the system. To me this is a dead horse. Let it lie!

Re: Is Belichick at fault for not being more aggressive in getting a Michael Vick to backup Brady? POLL

This is a trick question. There is no right answer, because Bill made the right choice to NOT pursue Vick! These Vick-supporters won't quit. Evidently they do not understand Patriots football as well as the rest of us. It takes an intelligent leader to run the offense. Vick is NOT that guy! He'd be "good" for a couple "trick" plays, and that's about it. And BB does not give away roster spots to guys that can only do one thing, unless it's a QB or kicking team specialist. These people are only seeing the highlight reels. They aren't considering his 50% pass completion rate or his 70 QB rating. There really wasn't any "choice" to make. He would not fit in, so they had no interest. BB was being "kind" when he made the statement way back when. Let the Eagles have him. He won't get them to a Super Bowl. It will probably wind up being a big media circus in Philly if McNabb falters.

I only clicked on this subject to see who the complete reeetard was that started this. Now I see it's a "newbie/troll" to be ignored. Moron, oh yes, PLEASE bring in a dog killer to fit in with all the other high -moral, high- intelligence rest of the team. It's idiots like these that are the cause of so many other teams never getting to or winning a SB. Bring in a thug to disrupt the teams chemistry (already starting to disrupt the Eagles). This is what happens when the team listens to a small minority of morons that clamor for a player that not only doesn't belong on the team, but shouldn't even be in the NFL. And hell, the publicity ( all bad mind you ) would negate anything positive that he MIGHT bring though he was at best an average QB more than two years ago. Stop whining for a thug to help win a SB "no matter what" ! Would rather NOT win one than bringing in a no-class thug.

Almost forgot, forget the fact that he doesn't fit in with the Patriots schemes, forget the fact that he sux as an NFL QB, but remember this discussion when the Eagles need him most, after he "chews" through his one chance and blows it. He already almost blew it with his drinking a week ago. Yeah, THAT'S QB insurance! Hard to bank on a guy as abackup QB when any day now he'll be banned again.

My challenges can sometimes be bold and inflammatory but I often will take the same positive pollyanish views as most on this board. For example, have you not run through my thread about Bruschi belonging in the National Hall of Fame in Canton?

Unfortunately, you are mistaken. The Vick brothers are not the only ones lacking in intelligence. So are the trolls who keep starting these moronic discussions. They will keep aruing a stupid idea even though the rest of the world has called them out! If only they put the same dedication and determination into other aspects of their life! Maybe then they would be able to get a job and move out of their mothers' basements!

Never underestimate Leon/Bugboy's ability to latch onto a subject and never let go no matter how stupid he makes himself look. He's been selling this Vick stupidity all summer under several names. Somewhere in his warped little bugbrain he thinks he can talk the Pats management into doing things to improve his pathetic Jets' chances.
