Every QB is better with a run game?  Why is this a point of contention?

Re: Is Brady Better With A Run Game?

Yeesssss. When the Pats offense plays with balance they are more successful. I might add that the OGs (Waters/Mankins) look great in the run game. Law Firm always falls forward and is seldom held to a loss (positive yardage all the time). Ridley has looked great between the tackles and their draws to Woodhead almost always work. Use the run to set up play action. When most offenses fail it is because they become one-dimensional and/or predictable. Couple all that with the fact that the run is great way to catch pass rushers in overpursuit and negate the blitz and it seems like a recipe for success when you have a QB like Brady. Mix in some spread too.

The only caveat is that you need to remember is that the gameplan is tailored differently for each opponent. IMO I don't know how successful a strong run game does against a great run D (Ravens, Steelers). Again the PAtriots offense has to be unpredictable and put the D on its heels. You can use the pass to set up the run and vice versa. Determining the opposing Ds weaknesses and exploiting those weaknesses is what being an OC is all about.

Good thing we got Bill O'Brien to devise the best offensive strategy each week.

Yes, Every QB benefits from a run game, because it is the lead into to play action, which with the right execution can shave some time on the defense's pursuit.

100% yes!   Under center, he would be deadly.

Idiotic question, but not a surprise considering the source. Their 25 rushes a game is within 3 runs per game of the top 10. If the D could get off the field we would have lots more runs and passes.

Re: Is Brady Better With A Run Game?

Is Brady better with a a run game? What kind of foolish question is that?  Are the DBs better with a pass rush?  Are the running backs better with a better offensive line?
Of course he is.  Every QB in the NFL is better with a running game.  We just don't happen to have a running game that is dominant and can get 4+ yards when the defense knows we are going to run the ball.  Our running games success is based on the threat of Tom Brady.  We are not able to slam it down other teams throats at will.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with using screens and short passes to our TEs, RBs and Welker for short gains to accomplish exactly the same thing a running game does, move the chains, run the clock, tire out the D.  The fact that our offense was held down by a good D is nothing new.  This is what happens to most good offenses when they face a good defense.  A solid defense gets off the field on third and long, a solid D steps up and makes big plays, a solid D forces turnovers, it doesn't wait for one to be thrown at their chest.  A solid D picks up the offense when it faces a great D like the Steelers.  A good D doesn't respond to a 3 and out by giving up a 80 yard drive while burning 8 minutes while they are fresh early in the game.

I didn't know Brady could even run....lol Laughing
If he could move like Drew Brees....he'd be that much better. just kidding.

I think any team would be better if they had a legitimate running game.

If your tyring to convince me that a team near dead last or last in completions %, 3rd down D, Yards per game, Yards per pass isn't poor at pass defense your failing miserably.

No doubt as Pitt dared the Pats to run.  So, when they didn't and kept trying to pass the usual routes, the Steeler defense had no fear for deep routes or having a runner break through a stacked line to face a lone defender in the defensive backfield.  Ya think they Pats learned something this past weekend?

Ya think Manning will be traded?  So why this about Brady?  Manning is the Colts, so why do they need a head coach?

Come on UD6. At times you seem fairly rational. Is losing throwing off your mood? What you describe about Brady is actually more akin to Manning's behavior. Don't worry, you have a shot at Luck, and things will get better for you!
