It's about adjustments and using what works best. Some games the run will work so you use it more. Some games the spread will work so you use it more. It's about exploiting the others team weakness and taking what they are giving you.
That's what BB meant by when the defense decides to take something away you have to be able to have other things that work.
good thread about balance, adjustments, unpredictability , and i will add having multiple threats (which we do, but you have to use them and prove they are threats to make a defense ineffective agaisnt us. i wrote about this for about 2 years. in the 2nd half against the bills, the pats did this.
however why were so many sunday (game thread) and even after, attacking people like myself who were saying this (especially when josh was not deploying it before the 3rd quarter).
I don't have the box score to prove but I think what we saw on Sunday is that they had one game plan and that was to run ball and take the right match ups with the passing game that the defense offered. Unfortunately both Gronk and WW both put the ball on the ground. What was different this time is that the Patriots stuck to their game plan to start the 2nd half and got better execution from all the players which resulted in some big plays especially in the forth quarter.
I agree you have to prove you have the talent to show the balance in all phases of the offense. One game does not prove it which is why it will be important for them to continue this trend. If they do then this offense is going to be very difficult to stop.
