Janoris Jenkins to fall out of first round?

http://www.rotoworld.com/playernews/nfl/football/ If Janoris falls out of the first round, would you trade up to get him? Would he be worth the risk to take him in the first?

no, the Patiots are going to trad out of the first round (both picks).  Doesn't make sence to then trade up

Re: Janoris Jenkins to fall out of first round?

From what I've read he wasn't really first round talent, or was marginally first round talent with a few CBs rated higher and that doesn't even include his other issues. My point is this isn't exactly like a Pacman Jones, Moss, Owens type of thing where you get a top talent but a bunch of headaches. Not convinced he's a top talent, so I think it's whether he's even worth the second round pick now.

    What?
Jenkins has top 10 talent, the reason he is falling out of the first round is all of his off the field issue.

Perhaps you should watch the videos of him during Senior Bowl week including the game and then decide (See You Tube). He got beat a lot in coverage, took bad angles toward the ball and had poor technique at times. Maybe, everyone has a bad week/bad game but Senior Bowl Week is the time to show off for scouts and Jenkins failed to impress.

i asaw mayock evaluating him there. said he was waiting till after the receiver made their break ie often too long, trying to make a specatcaular play. seems he felt pressure to make a big impression. this may have played a part.

kid has been a shutdown corner on guys whoo re stars now in the nfl. i dont see a guy "losing" that.

You're entitled to your opinion but from everything I've read hes rated behind Claiborne, Kirkpatrick and sometiimes Gilmore fairly universally in talent. He may go even further down because of character but while people could throw the term top 10 talent around fairly liberally I can guarantee that if you're the third best CB in college this year you will not be drafted in the top 10. There may be 3 CBs taken in the entire first round, but no way 3 go in the top 10.

I think i see where you are going. you are refering to where they are projected to go in the draft (but your original post referred to ablility) if you look at how they rank jenkins for his ability, it's top 10. it's the off the field issues that move him back as you have referred to above.

Re: Janoris Jenkins to fall out of first round?

JJ had an issue with pot (two busts) and got kicked off the team - never heard any 'bad teammate' issues. He has had a little issue with the use of contraception! which I think is a little more worrying than the pot, but ... Since then, he seems to have kept his nose clean for 18 months. These guys are college kids and they screw up. But, if he interviews well, and I haven't seen any bad reports on that, you got to like the talent and if he drops because of his history, you got to take him. I think he goes late first or early second - say 28 - 43.
We got a steal with Hernadez when he dropped because of pot. And if I remember correctly, he was flagged at the combine for failing his test. I think that is even more 'red flag' - these guys know their whole future depends on a few days in March, and he couldn't clean his act up for a couple of weeks before the combine! At least JJ didn't make that bonehead play.

This guys character issues are a disaster waiting to happen and not the pot thing since that's a fine in MA but he's got 4 kids already? Is that true?

That aside he's not going to be around ar 27 anyway because he has the talent and many teams will just toss the dice.

2nd pot bust was being in a friends car who had a "personal use amount" in it.

Jenkins falls way out of the first round. If Hernandez slips to the fourth, this kid drops to late second early third.Hernandez was one of the top Tight Ends in College. This Kid has Immaturity problems along with 4 kids. He also never stopped smoking weed at North Alabama. Not a Pac Man type just needs to grow up.

It's a moot point since he admitted to smoking while at N. Ala! So, regardless if the second bust was a small amount in a friends car he was still smoking.

Also with Hern, Mallett, and Faulk since they had been busted they have stopped and we haven't heard a single peep about substance violations since. Jenkins however, after being caught the first time, was then caught a second time, and then failed a drug test a third time (at which point he was thrown out of Florida), and even then still continued to smoke up. That's the huge difference, is that they stopped once caught while Jenkins still continued then lied about it.

Additionally, Mallett, Hern, and Faulk didn't have an assault arrest, suspensions from fighting on the field, and baby daddy issues. You really can't compare Jenkins to their situations since they appearently learned from their mistakes while Jenkins continues to make the same mistakes over and over again.

I pity whatever your college experience was, but if you think that Janoris Jenkins is an anomoly smoking pot and going to college, your head is in the sand

Seriously.  Kevin Faulk got arrested in Louisiana at a Snoop Dogg concert for possession of marijuana.  I've never heard you question his commitment to the "Patriot Way," or did you forget?

I'd love to see the Patriots draft Jenkins in the 2nd or 3rd round.  That frees up the two first round picks (or whatever they're traded for) to be used on a DE, DT, or OLB or S.  They could get a first round cornerback talent later, along with two first round talents with their other two picks.

I also can't wait until my generation, which realizes that people from both of our generations smoke large amounts of it anyways, finally legalizes and taxes it, thereby also eliminating more than half of all estimated black market drug dealer revenue.

    Oh, and it isn't addictive:
    http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-teenage-mind/201012/is-marijuana-addictive

With such low dependency numbers, they should ban Internet porn and sports bars and speeding first (oh wait, everybody speeds, too, but smart countries like Germany ditched speed limits because they know people don't want to die) (just like smart countries should legalize weed and regulate it, while destroying more than half of all drug dealers' business) (but, you know, villify this kid)

popular misconception about no speed limits in Germany.  ONLY on certain sections of the autobahn.

However, some credence could be given to your statement, in that most cab drivers in Germany aren't German and drive with no regard to speed limits.. even though there are INTL signs.

I dont know why his agent dropped him but that is yet another red flag.

If BB drafts him I will assume he knows more about the details and thinks the staff and team can handle the guy. But he is not the sort of player we usually go after. If he is still there when we pick in the second round maybe they will take a shot. I dont think I would risk a first round pick on this guy.
