    Jarvis Green vs Deadrick

So why are we startnig Deadrick at LDE when J Green is available on the market and did a decent enough job last year at DE.

On that note, how come noone has signed J Green, who first signed a 3 yr $16m deal with Broncos in March and then got released before season started, played all of last season as starting DE for us and now noone wants him?

Well, considering Adalius Thomas can't get a job either maybe I shouldnt be surprised.

Green role was basically Wright's role. Wright is younger, better and cheaper.

Not only was Green terrible at the end of his NE tenure, he's never really profiled as a full-time DE in a 3-4 D because he doesn't have the size.

During his prime, he made his hay as a pass rusher in their sub packages.

Green was pretty good back in the day ... Peyton Manning's second worst nightmare after Ty Law

It's not just a money issue. Green is an adequate DE. Deaderick has skill at the De position and he holds the edge fairly well and forces things back towards the pursuit on running plays on his side of the ball,he's not a rush end at this point of his career but he do9es have the potential to become that guy. Both he and Dareus did the same thing in College they forced everything back in towards the middle where McClain was just waiting to clean up the scraps.

    Re: Jarvis Green vs Deadrick

Deaderick gets a few sacks because he can bull rush with his bulk and because he has his swim move down.  A year's apprenticeship did that for him.  His strength is that he's really tough to move against the run, 314 pounds officially (I never trust the official weights of Patriots defensive linemen -- in reality they would take up all three seats on a commercial airliner).  Deaderick is by far the team's best run stopper after Vince W.  However, don't ask Deaderick to slide down the line or work in space because he has lousy lateral movement.
