    Jermain Cunningham

Saw on the wire he signed with the 49'ers. I thought he was coming back here based on how he parted with the Pats with $$$ in hand.

To me he was never that good to begin with. Maybe with less pressure he'll develop into an alright sub rusher in SF but he just didn't fit the Pats scheme here. Buchanan has already provided as much as Cunningham ever did with higher upside

Bellichick passed up Carlos Dunlap for him. BB doesn't believe in drafting pass rush specialists. He felt Cunningham would be a better all-around player. Ironically, Dunlap has been better vs the run than as a pass rusher.

    Ooops.

The homers will get a chance to see 1st hand what we missed on sunday. I thought he would be ideal. They also never bought in Manny Lawson who also plays there which I thought was a no brainer last offseason.  I guess these guys just dont do something that BB requires....oh well.

College teammate of Cunningham taken the pick after him.

I thought Cunningham was depth that was familiar with the system and could play multiple positions. Right now they need bodies on the DL...and I am not a fan of Jones or Buchanon lining up inside. They are too small to take the wear and tear for DT...and too valuable to take away from the outside...

Can some one explain the content of the pictures that Bequette has on BB and Kraft? Why is he still on the roster? Seeimingly, because no one out there is better, but isnt Fortson or Francis more needed than Bequette at this time?

The Bequette thing is puzzling but I take it as, there is space on the roster and they can afford to keep him around one more year. BB has got to be tired of dumping players after a year and we DID keep Crable for what?? 3 years! I dont mind because we have a bunch of jags in terms of our D.T. depth anyway. We are set at DE and LB. The reason I think Cunningham is gone is because they like what Buchanan brings as a sub rusher. He goes to end while C.J. Kicks inside and causes problems with his speed and long arms. Cunningham was effective at times playing tackle in pass downs but they have better now and with Fork out, I wouldnt want to bring another undersized guy. We have plenty of those now,,,we NEED a true DT imo, but I will give C.Jones and Vellano a chance after a week of practice and an increased role.

Go back to the old post and I said that the Pats should take Dunlap - I watched many games in "The Swamp" and attended their practices and Dunlap made Cunningham and Spikes look a lot better than they were.

Pretty much, I don't see Bequett and T. Wilson on the squad next year.

As for the Dunlap vs Cunningham, I think every reg on the draft thread can tell you I was all about Dunlap over Cunningham and was pissed we didn't take Dunlap but was assured by some that BB knew what he was doing and Cunningham was the better overall player. Now not saying I'm better than BB at picking in the least but that was one I felt strongly that he got wrong from the get go, same with missing out on Wilkerson, and Matthews, and taking Ras.

I don't like seeing Jones or Buchanon playing inside either...as for Bequette, why not throw him inside and let him get his butt kicked? What does he weigh? 280?

I think seeing how we have signed no one, we will see a guy like Fortson called up right before the game. Belichick likes to do stuff like that because he thinks no one would see something like that coming and they wouldn't game plan for it - that way Fortson may not get exposed for a couple of quarters (but they'll catch on as soon as they realize they can push him around).

I think everyone called for Dunlap over Cunningham except BB.

i thought cunningham was okay. I never liked him rushing from the inside, and I thought he was best served playing OLB in a 3-4.

I hope BB brings back Francis over Forston. I thought Francis played very well last year for a UDFA, and he could rotate in with Vellano and others to play the end or tackle position.

In the end, from here on out it wil be a smaller line, but maybe what they give up in size, they get back in quickness and rush ability? looking for a silver lining guys.

Well, Dunlap wasn't from a college where BB had a "buddy".

He played at Florida with Cunningham when Meyer was there. Get a clue before you post nonsense.

Dunlap, Cunningham and Spikes all played together for Meyer. He just flat missed on Dunlap.

Maybe he wasn't looking for a 4-3 DE? Also, Dunlap is terrible vs the run. BB likes run responsibility here.

He didn't miss at all. If all you want to do is be a one dimensional, glorified pass rusher who has weaknesess elsewhere, you ain't going to fit here.

BB develops.  Nink is a good example. Jones. Hightower. Heck, FLetcher can't even see the field at LB and he was looking good in 2010 and 2011.

Dunlap is a one trick pony who will be blasted off the edge next week with our ground game. You and MT Hurl, will see it real good then. lmao

I'd rather have a no trick pony bust than a one trick pony playmaker. <---- Queenie logic

I thought of that but I didn't check. I stand corrected.

But if you don't think BB's "college buddy" network is a problem, then you are the clueless one.
