    Jets make offer to Taylor

Jets make offer to Dolphins’ Jason Taylor

The Jets made their best pitch, and now it’s up to Jason Taylor to decide if he wants Broadway or the beach. The six-time Pro Bowler finished his elaborate, two-day visit with the Jets yesterday afternoon, then returned to his home in Miami — as promised — to think it over. After coach Rex Ryan and Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum squired Taylor for nearly 48 hours with everything from a helicopter tour of the area to a personalized visit to the new Meadowlands Stadium, the Dolphins’ pass-rush specialist left with an unspecified offer believed to be roughly $3.5 million over two years. — NY Post

LOL!  1.75 per year???  I know that he doesn't really need the money, but I am sure that he will get more than double that after the draft....

I bet that fat-boy cried his eyes out to Taylor.....I can see Ryan with his knees on the ground, hands folded....begging him to sign in NY....with a tear in his eye.....

    Sad.

That's all they can offer him based on that final 8 rule, but I don't think he'll go there.

Now that's funny. There's no way on earth that he can believe is is going there because he wants to win a superbowl. He's just as well off staying in Miami if that's the case.

Sorry Jimmy don't mean to but in ...I think he's half the player he was. His speed just insn't there anymore. He still has good technique and is a good leader but he's obviously in the twighlight of his career. Im sure he could help the Jets with their younger players for what it's worth.

i agree with your assessment but jason really isnt the kind of guy who seems too interested in helping younger players get better...is he an anti-team guy? no...but he is pretty darn close to just playing the game for himself...

I heard that over lunch Ryan actually broke down in tears again when talking about the jets making the playoffs this past year, choked up over his triple "3lb" basket burger.

Some (at the restuarant) said he was just choking from forcing to much food in his mouth and that he really wasn't crying - again.

say what you want, but at least the Jets are throwing the kitchen sink at getting a key player they feel will fill a major void in their defense (which was already #1 last year).

I haven't seen us go that far above and beyond for someone in years.

Agreed - the Jets are trading for Holmes, trying to sign Taylor all the while Billy Boy is picking his a**.

Honestly, I think he has lost it, he wants to run everything, the offense the defense, special teams, run the draft - time to retire, he's like the runaway train in taking of Pelham 123...

Hey everyone, look at the Jests fan getting all worked up about his GOD, whom is fat.....

If you want me to correct it and make his description more accurate and call him an Obese crybaby man....Does that make you happy?  Calling my wife fat, that is oringinal....since you are making the comparision, you must be married to fat boy Ryan yourself.

You might want to get a life, stomp-is-a-her.

The Pats lack of interest for Taylor can only mean they think he's got nothing  left in the tank at all. The money the jests are offering him confirm that they don't think much of him either. The redskins released him in 2008 and the dolphins haven't even made him an offe and the jests offer is for kicker money.

    What does that tell you?

I am not sure that the Pats don't have interest in him....notice that Taylor hasn't signed anything.....he is waiting for the draft to end....that is when he should get more offers.  Besides, Taylor had shoulder surgery and teams are waiting to see how he is progressing.....

Jets are building a one season team.  With all their moves, they are going to try to win it all this year.  They have traded away several of their draft picks in a deep draft.  The players that they are getting, are in their last year of their contracts.  Taylor is only a one year answer, if that.  I would think the Fins would have signed him if they felt that he had anything left.

The Fins and Pats are waiting to see what they get in the draft first....Taylor would be smart to wait 2 more weeks to see how everything pans out.  If he signs with the Jests now, he is selling himself short at a chance for stardom or to look foolish on television with the Circus called the Jets!

It doesn't work that way. The only thing outside of money that fuels Taylor's desire to remain in South Florida is his kid(s). That said, he'll go to any team that is willing to pay a 36-year old DE significant money. That's assuming the Phins no longer want him, which might be the case.

Spot on! A point to ponder - Revis and Cromartie are both FA's at the end of the 2010 season. It's doubtful that the Jokes will be able to resign both or even 1 of them as both need to eat, (don't forget Cromartie has 7 children in 5 states) will want big paydays, a contract similar to Big Al Haynesworth's $100 mil, 7 yr w/$40 mil upfront money. LT and  Taylor are at the end of their careers and Braylon Edwards and Santronio Holmes are me first prob children. All the Jokes signings hardly make a ripple.
