I smell fear, or is that the stink from the yellow streak on the Jests players backs?

I've posted this before so excuse me for repeating myself. The Jets have sent a memo of sorts to the league stating that under league rules, they should be allowed enough time to substitute players should the Pats up tempo offense become too big of a problem. Now that's fear!

Re: Jets vs Patriots Game Thread

    Welcome to Gillette (Mike Reiss)

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Welcome to Gillette Stadium, where the Patriots host the Jets (CBS, 4:25 p.m. ET):

Weather conditions. This is one of those days you hope for when the schedule first comes out – clear, temperatures in the low 60s, a bit of a breeze (according to Weather.com). In other words, it’s the fall season in New England, with the beautiful foliage, at its best. We’ll keep an eye on the wind possibly picking up and affecting the kicking game as the orange flags above the goal posts are dancing a bit.

Throwback uniforms. The Patriots are wearing throwback uniforms for the game. It will mark the only time this season the team wears throwbacks. The uniforms replicate those worn by the 1985 Patriots – red jerseys with white pants and a white helmet featuring the “Pat Patriot” logo with white facemasks. The Patriots are 8-3 all-time in throwback uniforms.

Triplette is today’s referee. Veteran Jeff Triplette is assigned to referee today’s game. With the Jets already contacting the NFL about the Patriots’ up-tempo, no-huddle offense – with the intention of ensuring they will be able to match substitutions – the role of Triplette and his crew figures to draw added attention today (link here).

Four more inactive players. The Patriots have already ruled running back Brandon Bolden (knee), linebacker Tracy White (left foot) and safety Steve Gregory (hip) out of today’s game. The team must deactivate four more players, and those decisions will be publicized about 90 minutes before kickoff. Linebacker Dont’a Hightower (hamstring), right tackle Sebastian Vollmer (back/knee), left guard Logan Mankins (calf/hip) and safety Patrick Chung (shoulder) are a few top players whose status bears watching.

Mayo on GameDay cover. Linebacker Jerod Mayo, who has been described by some teammates as an “old soul” and old-school type of player, is on the cover of today’s GameDay program being sold at Gillette Stadium. The picture is of Mayo in a throwback uniform.

Blast from past with Agnew. As is usually the case, scouts representing the next opponents for both teams are expected to be on hand today. Ray Agnew, a first-round draft choice of the Patriots who now scouts for the Rams, is scheduled to be here. The Patriots face the Rams next Sunday in London. Brian Gaine, the assistant general manager for the Dolphins is here, as the Jets host Miami next Sunday.

National anthem/Color guard. Adam Gontier, of the band “Three Days Grace” will perform today’s national anthem. The colors will be presented by the United States Coast Guard

With Chung out, I'd love to see McCourty make the move to FS and kick Dowling and Dennard down to the CB position, with Arrington or Moore in the slot.

I feel like McCourty is the only true FS on the team. Both Chung and Wilson are much better suited to be playing down in the box, as a quick-closing, physical presence against the run and against TEs. McCourty has a lot of more range, and seems like a true ball-hawk.

    LCB: Dennard

    RCB: Dowling

    SCB: Arrington/Moore

    FS: McCourty

    SS: Wilson

I think that's the best lineup for today, and could be our best lineup, even with Chung healthy.

Today marks the 104th meeting between the Patriots and Jets. It's been an even split, so far: both teams 51-51-1 through 103 tries.
