Jordan Cameron? Make the call! And other TEs I want...

Cleveland is FAR from competing. If they were interested in keeping players that draw fans, they wouldn't have dealt Richardson 2 game sin to the season. A TE, by contrast, doesn't get too many fans excited. Especially with no QB, and Josh Gordon outside.

I think, for the right offer, he could be had. Celveland needs EVERYTHING...so, mostly, they need draft picks. Now, and in the future, to have any chance.

    Also...they need a QB.

Pats can fill both of those needs for them.

Would you rather Johnny "LOOK AT ME" Football, Teddy Bridgewater, or a guy who has sat behind Brady, and watched the inner working of the NFL for multiple seasons now?

Offer Mallet, plus a pick or 2, and see if you can pry this kid from Cleveland. He fits that same need I was lusting for when talking Jimmy Graham, but for a FAR lower price-tag.

Scott Chandler is a FA. I want him. No idea how much he costs. Great size, solid talent. Good blocker. He's torched the Pats a few time right down the seam, which is where the Pats aren't good lately.

Dennis Pitta! Talent is undeniable. I wonder what cost there will be...and to be honest, at this point, I think the Pats are at critical mass with injury concern players. They have too many on the roster already, with a large one at TE. But that talent...he is intriguing.

Brandon Pettigrew. For a first rounder, he's been a bust. I don't love him as a #1 TE, but as a #2? Now we're on to something. Again, has that desirable size, is very athletic...with extremely questionable hands. Few players are perfect, and I like what he offers.

Fred Davis. Not many people know him well. He is freakishly talented. He was stuck behind Cooley, broke out and had a great season and a half, got kind of hurt, then got replaced, and didn't get a shot to get back on the field. I'm not sure how serious the injury concerns are, it doesn't scare me that he got lost in the Shanahanigans. He's a Dallas Clark, receiving only type of TE, but he can line up similarly to Hooman in that he can line up next to the tackle, and also in the backfield...though NOT the blocking threat Hooman is.

I don't want outside threats. I want between the numbers, and down the seam threats. Historically, Brady has done best OVERALL, with those kinds weapons. Brown, Branch, Welker, Gronk, Hernandez ALL worked the middle of the field tremendously well. Patten, Givens, Moss made thier bones outside because of the other options inside.

The offense runs better when they work from the inside out...meaning, DON'T LOOK FOR THE HOME RUN FIRST! Enough with the slow developing, deep routes. It's a waste. It's not Brady's preference. And it's definitely NOT his strength. And, it's easier to defend. It may not make the OC look so great, but it's what works.

TE is a deep position on the market, I hope the Pats bring in some talent at that position. They NEED it with Hern GONE and Gronk out for who knows how long. I'd say half the season at least, maybe the entire thing. I'd like to see 2 healthy, talented TEs take the field Week 1. Fred Davis + Scott Chandler would make me THRILLED. 2 above them would be free agency porn for me.

Actually Cleveland realized Richardson was a mistake and completly fleeced the Colts in that deal.

Cleveland is a QB away from being a serious contender....they actually had us beat.

Hoyer made them competitive until he was hurt.

You're far more optimistic than I am on this squad. They have had 2 winning seasons wince 1995 - 2002, and 2007.

    http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/team/history/year-by-year-results.html

They just lost both coordinators, won't be able to sign both Mack (their pro bowl center) or Ward (their pro bowl safety), and will likely have to make Dqwell Jackson a salary cap cut.

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000323904/article/offseason-forecast-cleveland-browns

All that, plus Joe Montana in his prime equals, at best, a .500 team.

Min, Cincy, Buff, Balt...those were all their wins, all by week 9. After their bye in week 10, they went 0-7. 2 of those wins are divisional games, which are always fights...and MIN and BUF were bad. Take all the character building losses you want, they are more than a QB away. Hoyer won at Min, against Cincy...then got hurt. 2 games doesn't show me enough. He had 60% completion...he was fine. Not like he threw for 800 yards in 2 games.

Mack would be a stud. Ward is good and fills a position (s), and a role (hard hitter) the Pats sorely lack. Jackson...he's possibly the most intriguing. A veteran LB who has proven ability on a bad team...I like Mayo. I think Jackson could do it better.

He's smaller, but I think covers far better. Hightower already is there for run stuffing. I wonder...the Pats once shed Milloy and went with an older player in Harrison. It worked. Incredibly well. Mayo is kind of similar to Milloy at that point...lost of tackles, few bad plays...0 big plays. You need a linebacker, a DB, and a DLineman making big plays, at least occasionally. A big sack. A big timely hit. A nice INT. A beautiful pass defensed. I wonder if, on this team, jackson might be more that player. At the very least, he's a tackling machine.

I dont agree. Browns in disaray but were on the right path prior to Lombardi/Banner. 6 pro bowlers on the roster. 2 #1 draft choices. $40 million in cap space.

They draft #4 and if Manziel goes #1 and Teddy B #3, do the Browns go Hoyer as the bridge and take a QB in the 2nd?

Interesting team. could they be this years Chiefs?

simply makes me wonder why they bailed on Lombardi so quickly?

I don't think Lombardi was well received in Cleveland - at least that's what I read after he was fired - the fans there remember him and his name from the days he was there with Belichick. Those Belichick and crew days - although well played on the NFLN - were a nightmare for that city. I remember some of those Cleveland times...they lost games...lots of them...there was little or no hope and Belichick would just stand there in front of that microphone after games and act the way Bill does. Imagine that for a second...we don't like that NOW, but at least he wins, imagine dealing with that if after five years of service and one winning season? That's what those people in Cleveland had to live with for half a decade. And then they try to put Lombardi in charge last year?

Banner and Lombardi didnt see eye to eye. Lombardi wanted McD or Schiano to get an interview and look but Banner didn't like either of those guys.

owner is an idiot and took them both out

THe owner is still dealing with this:

    http://www.newsnet5.com/news/local-news/investigations/cleveland-browns-owner-jimmy-haslam-continues-to-face-criminal-probe-into-alleged-fuel-rebate-fraud

If your owner's attention, and money, are tied up elsewhere, and the FBI is sniffing around...is that really a good situation?

It doesn't LOOK like he's going down for anything, but that can change in a hurry.

It's a mess in Cleveland, for more reasons than just football. Realistically, they are AT LEAST a year away at this point.

    #1 - GM

    #2 - Coach

    #3 - QB

1 and 2 CAN be done this year...assuming they nail both, which is rare. A new GM takes over soon, and hires a coach, and they are a good match and fit in CLE.

EVEN IF that goes perfectly, then the QB question comes in to play. Bridgewater? Manziel? Really? If I'm CLE, I'm avoiding either. TOo many questions to spend that high a pick. They need to build a TEAM, and their pro bowl C is likely gone.

If I'm running CLE...I get the coach and GM established...something with more long-term interests than 1 year lombardi. This is not an easy task. He needs to find a smart GM who has a plan specific to CLE and is going to stick to it, and the Owner has to commit to him. How likely is that? In CLeveland? THEN that GM needs to find a coach who is board with his plan. THEN those 2 need to find a QB who can do what they want...after they have some kind of team in place. Dropping a 28 year old Tom Brady into Cleveland tomorrow helps a little...but not much.

Get your GM. Hope he picks the right coach...and bridge the QB position for a year, at least. Don't stick some kid under center to get buried all season. David Carr? Alex Smith? No.

Then there's Josh Gordon...exceedingly talented, and one foot out the NFL door due to his own idiocy.

Bottom out. Get as many assets as you can (picks). Then, let your GM, who you are paying ILLIONS TO, execute his plan. That's what Kraft learned. Hire a guy, trust your decision, and let the man do his job.

Otherwise, I see CLE middling away for another decade, and will be back in this same spot in 2024.

Too many disjointed parts. No leadership on the field, in the locker room, or upstairs. Since their expansion, it's been a broken franchise. About 15 years of horrible decisions.

Bb will do something regarding TE. I can't see him rolling into the season with hooman and mulligan only With Gronk out.

I think Cameron or chandler fit the bill. If bb wants a true move TE, he will look at Pitta and Amaro in the draft.
