Kerry Rhodes and Bernard Pollard were better fits than Adrian Wilson

    In response to Muzwell's comment:

Re Pollard, he's the football equivalent of Mike Torrez, for those who go back a few years. Right place, right time, marginal talent. Cashed in with the team he beat and lost a lot of ballgames after that.

It's taken me 34 Years to try to forget Torrez giving up a Three Run Home Run to Bucky Fc---ing Dent in the 1978 Play Off Game against the Yankees.  I think the Red Sox also gave up a 14 Game Lead in late August of that year as well.    Thanks for bringing it up.  :)

Pollard - No Way.   I've seen a lot of bi--ch-ting and complaining in this board about the Pats and Free Agency and I'm glad some of these people arent making personell decisions.   I'm also trying to figure out what teams have won the Super Bowl after signing the biggest names for the biggest money in March?   If anybody knows, please enlighten me.

Have to agree with TexPat et al .... Pollard is 28, in his prime  and we know 1st hand what he can do .... keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer ... that saying was made for Pollard and the Pats ....

Signing a 34 yr old who was benched on passing plays by a lousy team .... ughhh. I sure hope they know what they are doing ... maybe he is going to have more of a LB type role or some kind of new LB/SS hybrid specialist role ...

He'll play starting SS. I can't imagine he'd come here if he knew he was strictly going to be a sub-LB in passing situations.

Evidentally Belichick doesn't see him as being as far over the hill as you guys do.

    In response to DontQuestionBB's comment:

Both Rhodes and certainly Pollard would have been better fits for this NE D.  But for some reason, we go after the benchwarming Wilson who can cover anyone.  Oh well, at least the Pats signed Arrington and got rid of Wes.

    Why would they be better?

RESPONSE: Bad analogy. Unlike ol' Iron Mike, a/k/a the Raging Bull...Pollard isn't going to cost huge money. He was set to earn $3mil. with Baltimore this season.

RESPONSE: Injuries killed the Sox that year, as much as the Yankees did. The Sox  manager, Don Zimmer, a/k/a "The Gerbil", went with Torrez too long.

RESPONSE: Again, the Pats wouldn't have to break the bank to sign Pollard. Sorry...but I have little confidence that the SS position is now in better hands, with a 34 year old has-been back there.

The guy is the #2 best safety in the NFC two years ago and he has one down year and he is a "has been".

I think you're completely underestimating Wilson and dismissing him far too quickly.

RESPONSE: I respect and admire BB. But, he's wrong here. That said, it wouldn't surprise me if the real reason that BB is not pursuing Pollard is lingering animosity, due to that cheap shot on Brady's knee. That I can understand.

You have no clue if Belichick's wrong. Have you seem Wilson play recently? To make such a definitive statement, saying that he's certainly 'done' is absurd. We shall see what happens.

Or because Pollard's been a locker room cancer wherever he's been.

I don't know what the Cards thinking was... Perhaphe they were attempting to give younger players snaps in a lost season.

There's risk in every move, but I have a lot of confidence that Wilson will be a force here.

We're?  You mean like you and me?  I could care less how smart you think you are, you are neither smart enough to read my mind, nor apparently smart enough to get the obvious gist of my comment.  Belichick's got a history of bringing in older players.

RESPONSE: It's not about how smart I think I am...it's about how ignorant you are. There you go again...trying to misdirect the discussion. LOL!!!

They generally haven't worked out.  I apologize to the rest of the board for having to restate for the challenged a comment that was simple and easily understood.

RESPONSE: Why don't you apologize to the board for typing sentences that don't make any sense! Let's see...you want us to accept your apology for having to restate for the challenged a comment that was simple and easily understood.  We got it, son. LOL!!!!

    Consider the source.

RESPONSE: When you are the source Dog(ggggg), that's always considered. Everybody by now realizes that you have no credibility...and no one here takes you seriously. Is that "challenged a comment simple and easily understood"??  LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lots of opinions out there on virtually every Pats related topic (and some non-Pats related) and I don't see any reluctance at sharing them by any poster on the board.

Now to the basic premise of the thread:  I understand your position, now may I ask why you see it that way?  I happen to think Wilson is an excellent fit, brings much needed veteran leadership and experience and by all accounts still has something left.  There's the basis for my view.  Yours?

surely you know the core group of individuals of which I speak. It was not meant as a generalized statement. It does not take much for some posts to slide into an abyss of septic spew. It only takes two my brother. You been around for enough years to know that. All I was saying...

I clearly misinterpreted your post.  You are correct - when someone jumps out there with an opinion that strong there will be replies - some constructive; others not so much.  Thanks for clarifying.  And peace, brother.

My main purpose in replying to the OP was to offer my view, which is the opposite of his, and extract from him the basis of his post.  And, as of now, I don't see anything else from him.  I believe it was Muz who pointed out that the OP is simply a disruptive individual who is also a Jets fan.  'Nuf said.
