Last Years Problems not correted yet apparently.
Will BB wake up and smell the coffee and get a better cb coach or just keep drafting dbs every year?

Hope Mccourty turns a corner but this doesnt sound good.
and we brought in so many safeties, done know that a switch therer makes sense now.

we'll get a look see thursady for ourselves at teh mccourty situation.

also hearing ras i was getting beat too often in camp (believe it was reported by andy heart, memeory escapes at moment). not just by lloyd for example, but for instance by the likes of britt davis

This is how I view this and most reports - I like reading them/hearing stuff - but in all honesty the only thing I really care about at this point is that we don't read...so and so was carted off today in what appeared to be a major knee injury. That's the stuff, not a guy not looking good right now. I remember that pre season game against the up start Bucs last year - d looked unbelievable - it meant nothing when teams were throwing over our heads all game long for most of the season.

As long as none of our key guys go down, I'm happy. Bill will hide a guy in his scheme that can't do this or that, he'll take him off the field or give him help, it won't be perfect, but he'll coach around it.

[QUOTE]Ugh. Just the worst. Source this silly statement, please. Brady was awful 2 days in a row and no one says a word. From what I've read McCourty has been fine. Plus, you don't know if they're working on things that make it seem like he isnt fine. Finally, it's always like this early in camp. The O is usually ahead of the D.  Can you really fault the D right now in camp with that sick offense?

    all; good points to consider.
nothing definitive till we see it consistently on tv.
however re teh talent. maybe britt davis is THAT good, but he was one of teh ones listed as toasting mccourty.
i'll give dbs till end of preseason to get their game together. we'lll see what happens.

    Seems a bit alarmist.

I've been reading the reports here from Bedard and from Reiss and I haven't seen them say that.  I've heard an occassional "this guy made a great catch with McCourty in coverage or some other guy" but I didn't really expect that nobody was going to complete a pass against him in training camp.

Who knows . . . not sure what sources are reliable.  But this was a report from Bleacher Report . . .

As for McCourty, he is trying to bounce back from an entirely bad sophomore season last year. Tuesday was a strong day for McCourty. McCourty knocked away a number of passes and did not get beat badly on any plays. Last season, his signature fault was allowing opposing receivers to blow by him, as he got beat as often as any starting cornerback in the NFL.

    And this from Nepatriotsdraft.com

    9. Devin McCourty seems to be making some progress in man coverage drills. While he has been beat a couple times, he has the most pass break-ups out of all the defensive backs thus far in camp. There have been moments when McCourty has been beat, but he has been able to recover and get his hands on the ball. With McCourty the most important thing is going to be how he performs in games. Developing an early confidence will go along way with McCourty.

I haven't read much negative.  Maybe we could have a link?

Receivers always have the upper hand, especially in drills. Lets wait for the season to start, if the pass rush is as good as hoped this defensive backfield could play like all pros.

And now this....less encouraging (from Beddard) THUMBS DOWN Devin McCourty is not off to a good start in camp. After enduring a rough sophomore campaign, McCourty has been average so far and then had a really rough time on Friday. He was consistently beaten during red-zone coverage drills, and it looked even worse because he wasn’t turning his head around to spot the ball. McCourty needs to start picking it up or else Sterling Moore – who has shown the best ball skills by far – could earn a shot at lining up with Kyle Arrington and Ras-I Dowling.

I've been reading the same reports.  McCourty may have been defensive rookie of the year his first season, but he still isn't cutting the mustard as a cornerback in his third season.

    Possibility 1:  he's long-term injured.  Sorry, guy.

Possibility 2:  other teams have figured out his weaknesses.

He still has the speed and skills to play free safety, but for the second year he shows no ability to be a press corner.  BB really needs three corners and two of them are Ras-I and Kyle Arrington, but he's going to have to look elsewhere for his third corner.  Maybe if Chung and Tavon Wilson are both on the field, one can play slot corner.

disagree on corners i think moore should be in the mix
    bb likes arrignton at slot.

i see that arrington can be nearby as a cb, but i dont see him defending passes, only tackling after the catch.
i would not have him as a cb, cept maybe slot (even then id prefer an upgrade)

wilson looks like a te specialist and may be able to move around a lot as well

we have brought in so many safeties, im not sure how we move mccourty over unless we cut somebody who would otherwise make the squad.

i think we potentially have 2 decent corners in ras i and moore.
unless devin makes a quick turnaround.

Hate to say it but McC looked much more comfortable at safety last year.

He seems to be more of a cerebral player as opposed to a shut down corner.

Give it to Moore, without Moore last year, the Pats get blown out of the water in the AFCC.

Gregory is only a 1 year, 2 year max rental. Move Devin to FS, he's a smart player and he's a good tackler. He also has good speed and he's a great film student.

I'd hate to see him turn into Jonathan Wilhite part 2.
