    Legitimate question for Rusty......

Rust I want to ask you this question, mainly because your the main Tom Brady critic in this forum. With today's announcement of Andy Dalton's ridiculous contract, Do you at least give Tom Brady major props for signing a contract extension at far below market value? Please don't mention Giselle and all her money. We know how competitive Tb12 is, and we know most players (particularly the current top Cb's) keep tabs of each other's contracts. I personally I don't think TB12 has been given enough credit for the millions he has sacrificed. Think Revis makes any similar sacrifices next year?!

Dude, read the details of the deal. It's only a 2 year deal. Cincy can cut him after 2 years if he doesn't earn it and they're off the hook.

It's something like 24 mil guaranteed over 2 years and that's it.

So, no, I don;t see how this ties to the Brady contract. Brady's contract in 2011 and 2012 was the highest in the league and in NFL history at that time.

There are not many QBs, if any I'd take over Brady. But, I am getting tired of him letting our team down in the title game.

The only reason he gets a pass for last year is because of Gronk, but we've seen them lose or almost lose big playoff games with Gronk out there.

I don't get why a PAts fan cannot be beyond disappointed at this point with his play and simply state it.

Quarterback Tom Brady signed a four-year extension with the New England Patriots that will make him the NFL's highest-paid player, a source close to the negotiations confirmed Thursday night.

Try to understand.  He signed ANOTHER extension in 2011.

That was 2010.  Even then, he was paid on the lower end of the contract and restructured before it escalated.

    Your statement clearly said 2011-2012.

Drew Brees signed his in 2011 that made him the highest.

He was the 10th highest player 2011-12, even f'n Sam Bradford made more.

Last I checked, 10th was not the highest.

    Re: Legitimate question for Rusty......

I've got issues with Rusty's post season critique of Brady - though let's face it, when we don't win a Super Bowl almost every player has to look in the mirror -

But he's always been correct that Brady's so-called contract sacrifices have been a bit overrated. Brady has gotten himself paid and there's nothing wrong with that. He hasn't been an albatross against the cap but he has gotten paid hefty sums.

    On the other hand:

"The only reason he gets a pass for last year is because of Gronk, but we've seen them lose or almost lose big playoff games with Gronk out there."

    whahuh?

Gronk's rookie year excepted, the last three seasons we have lost postseason games with Gronk either out, in the last Super Bowl loss, severely hampered.

I don't give Brady a pass for that, but you should take that more into account than you do.

Brady signed a new deal in 2010 then restructured it with an extension in 2013. Brees signed his new albatross contract with the Saints in 2012. Quit arguing.

    Wrong

    New deal 2010

    Restructure prior to 2012 season

    Extended in 2013

He was NOT the highest paid player during those years, period!

There is no argument, just undeniable FACTS!

Forgot about his restructure in 2012. That slipped under the radar compared to his 2010 and 2013 deals. I'm not arguing him being the highest paid.  Just when he did his deals.
