Mangini's Job Hangs By a Thread in Cleveland

It's likely a do or die situation for our "favorite son", Eric Mangini, in Cleveland today...as his Browns face the Goths. Win, and he likely keeps his job. Lose, and he's a good bet to be gone: http://www.ohio.com/sports/browns/112756624.html

Odds are, it will be the later, as the Steelers, for all intents and purposes, must win this game to clinch their division, and a much needed first round bye. Meanwhile, in Baltimore, the Buzzards will battle the Cincinnati Bengals...hoping that the Goths fall on their swords in Cleveland...so that they win the AFC North, and earn a first round bye. Furthermore, the Buzzards wish to avoid a first round match-up with the Colts...who have been poison to them: http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bs-sp-schmuck-column-0102-20101231,0,3399739.column

Here's more on how the Ravens want to avoid the Colts, and an excellent article on the remaining playoff possibilities: http://www.examiner.com/baltimore-ravens-in-baltimore/baltimore-ravens-hope-to-avoid-peyton-manning-and-the-indianapolis-colts

I think he keeps the job either way. Cleveland showed some bright spots this year. I hate to say that since I hate the guy.

Thier first two picks last year in Haden and Ward were one of the best 1-2 picks.  The only other team that picked on par with that were the Patriots McCourtney and Gronkowski.

Ward led all rookies in tackles, Haden led all rookies in Pass Deflections and is tied with McCourtney with 6 INTs.  Not much has been said about either one making the pro bowl or D Rookie of the year.

It's official...the "Mangenius" has been shown the door by Mike Holgrem. ESPN's coverage of the firing, and it's "arrogance" is questioned: http://www.cleveland.com/ohio-sports-blog/index.ssf/2011/01/cleveland_browns_firing_of_eri.html
