    Old news Bubba.

Adam Schefter broke the story but Bob Kraft said it was a bold faced fib.

Here's Kraft's side of the story. It starts at 2:55 into the audio.

Kraft denied that statement. He said there was no deal on the table. Personally, I don't know why Mankins is being valued so much. Connelly is doing a great job, why not give Randy that deal?

Here's the weird part....at about 4 minutes into that audio stream, Kraft stated that Mankins apologized to him personally...and wanted Mankins to make that apology "public"...

    still strange...lol

Generally if you insult your boss most people get fired.

Is it that hard to understand why Kraft wants an apology before he makes Mankins filthy rich?

Sure, because anybody can drive a delivery truck or file papers.  But there aren't many Pro Bowl guards walking around.

"Sure, because anybody can drive a delivery truck or file papers.  But there aren't many Pro Bowl guards walking around."

that's exactly the opposite mentality that the Pats have taken throughout the Super Bowl run and you know it. (Milloy and on and on).

Besides, Kraft was not involved in contract negotiations at this time. He just wanted an apology in public after being defamed in public. The only person that thinks this derailed the contract is Adam "Shefty" and he wants page views not accuracy as he's shown again and again lately

Somewhat, but they have also brought in guys like Moss and Dillon whose reputations were very sketchy.  Sometimes you work around your own basic tenets if the talent justifies it.  And by the way, whatever you think of him based on this contract stuff, Mankins is a hard nose, unselfish, tough SOB and a really good football player.  isn't that embodiment of what you're talking about?  Say what you want, but don't say they're a better football team without Mankins.  No way.

    Sign the guy.

These are actually good points, and I give the pats credit here.  They remove the malcontents that exist on their team.  Just because a player is a malcontent on another team does not mean he will be with the pats.  That they can see beyond that with some players they bring in is admirable.

Re: Mankins Won't Sign Because Kraft Demands Apology?

Nobody seems to be considering what the effect on the rest of the team would be had Kraft let it slide and paid Mankins ridiculous money. He's not the whole offensive line despite what his over sized ego and agent tell him.
